Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose a B.tech in mechanical engineering with a specialization in automotive engineering as I had a passion for physics and automotive vehicles.VIT has a unique system called the FFCS(Fully Flexible Credit System) in which the students get to choose their faculties as well as their subjects. The faculties that I have come across are really talented and know their way around both the students and the subject. The practical knowledge that one gets is a very good thing about VIT. One semester has 3 exams or tests i.e., CAT-1, CAT-2, and finally a FAT. Any exam without proper knowledge is tough but having learned the subject it becomes really easy.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

VIT provides seed funding to many companies which are started by the students at VIT itself. Some of the companies are OROM Corp, Ambher, Jurident, Kleiba, etc. The companies provide internship opportunities to students who are initially interviewed and if accepted work part-time and whenever needed. Stipends are only provided by very few companies and depend upon the roles provided by that particular company. The tasks and roles provide experience to each person enrolling for a particular role.

Placement Experience

4.5

VIT is known for its placements. Students are eligible to sit for placements from their fourth year. The placements for mechanical engineering are pretty bad but for CS and IT, I've heard the placements are really good and there are companies like Amazon, Flipkart, etc who offer good packages. I've heard that around 95% of students get placed. But the salary packages offered need not be attractive. I plan to take part in the placements as well as look to study abroad for a higher degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for each student is according to their rank obtained in the VITEEE exam. For each rank range, there is a category and I fell under category four which has a fee of four lakh five thousand in the first year and then four lakh two thousand for the remaining three years. I have not taken part in placement as of now but I hear they offer good placement opportunities. I've completed internships by startups seeded by VIT and have earned stipends up to Rs.5000.I know about scholarships provided by VIT but I do not have knowledge about financial assistance provided by the college.

Campus Life

4

College life us really good, you get to meet a lot of people from different regions and different ethnic groups. There are two main fests in VIT i.e., Gravitas a tech fest and Riviera college fest. Gravias is conducted between the months of September and October and Riviera is usually conducted by February. The library is given a huge importance in our college. It consists of a vast collection of books both technical and nontechnical. The classroom consists of a projector and is termed a smart class but the projectors are barely used and Vellore being a very hot place the classrooms do not have enough ventilation. There are many clubs and chapters which are run by students. There are so many clubs both technical and nontechnical which is pretty amazing.

Admission

I applied for the VITEEE exam through the college website for a fee of Rs.1500 as far as I can remember, and the eligibility for writing the exam is having a minimum aggregate of physics, chemistry, and mathematics in class 12th. As far as reservation goes,I was not elegible for a reservation.I took my admission during the pandemic and I had to take part in an online admission cum entrance exam in which I had to have two devices. The exam was monitored by a faculty through web camera as well as a software called "third eye"(Recognises unwanted noises and gives alerts). A few challenges I faced during this is a proper internet connectivity for attending the exam but other than that the admission process was smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
