- Some subjects aren't provided in semesters and you need to wait until they provide them in later semesters
- The wifi automatically disconnects after 12:30 in night
- If you get a backlog in a subject, you need to redo the subject in next semester again after paying 6000 instead of simply giving the exam again later
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose CSE as it has the most potential in today's market as well as cause of my interest in coding. There are 1:40 ratio between students and faculties. Faculties are decent and are quite knowledgeable in their field of teaching. There are 2 unit examinations and one Final examination in one semester.
Placement Experience
You are eligible for placements as you enter in 4th year but you can apply for paid internship in 6th semester which could be converted to full-time later on. Almost 70% of the students are placed by November with all the major companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, etc. The highest package was offered by Zomato this year with 60LPA in India. The lowest package was 4 LPA while the average package you can expect is around 8-9 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are dependent on your category as per your academic results in class X, XII, and JEE scores. There are 5 categories with the lowest fee 2.4 lakhs in category 1 and 5 lakhs in category 5 for 1 semester. There is also a scholarship for students with excellent scores with a complete reduction of tuition fees if they maintain an 8 + CGPA in all semesters.
Campus Life
There are 2 fests namely Riviera (the cultural fest) and Gravitas (the technical fest) in one year. There are also several events almost every day on campus. The Library on the campus is huge with tons of books and digital screens everywhere to easily access books and issue them hassle-free. Sports and extracurricular activities are present with a variety of amenities and well-maintained gyms with most of the equipment.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are big enough with beds, tables, a cupboard and a mirror. There is high-speed wifi and the food in the mess is surprisingly good compared to other colleges in our country. There are several types of hostels with a new addition of apartment type where you have a hall and personal washrooms attached.
Admission
The eligibility criteria were above 75% in classes X and XII. You can find the application form on the VIT official site under admissions. There are reservations for certain castes (OBC etc.). The admission process during my time was in COVID, therefore they didn't take an examination and took JEE percentile under consideration but VITSAT needs to be taken to clear the entrance procedure.
