Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Economics is a great course that not only opens up opportunities in diverse sectors but also provides a wealth of knowledge. For students looking to pursue a career in policy making, finance, consultancy, banking or civil services, Economics is a good and helpful degree to pursue. Personally as someone aiming to pursue an MBA degree, I chose economics to help achieve this goal. The faculty student ratio is around 30 students per professor. Most faculty members have a PhD degree. The quality and teaching approach of the professors is effective but the material and course work is quite challenging with regilar test, quizzes and assignments. Although some professorstake make tests, few may not so it is advisable to remain consistent with your academic work.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

The placement cell of Kirori Mal College known as AVENUES helps students get various internship as well as job opportunities. Many companies like Delloite, DE Show. Ernst and Young, McKinsey and Company and Accenture seek out students from the college. Partnerships with Mother Dairy, Sattva Consulting, White Owl Brewery and Equity Data Science have also been formed.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of the course is quite reasonble and affordable. There are no specific scholarhips that the college or university itself provides. Same goes for campus jobs, although the college has a placement cell that provides students with internship and job opportunities. For out of state students, living costs are more of a burden that the course fee.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is vibrant. Fests are usually conducted in the months of February and March, although various societies and clubs have their own events throughout the year. Readings and course material is easily available at affordable prices. The library is decently equipped and accessible on all days excepts sundays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. There could be an inprovement in the infrastructure since many classrooms do not have ACs installed and that effects students especially during the hotter months. Kirori Mal College is well known for thier cultural societies as well as for sports. Their Music,Drama and Dance socities are well known throughout the DU circuit. They also have various other clubs like Bhoomi the environmental club. THe college also has an annual Magazine.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
