Course Curriculum Overview

4

Before coming here I studied in a state university for the same course for a month, that time I had gone through the syllabus. Comparing with that syllabus, curriculum in BA English in Central University of Karnataka is far far better. Some courses I feels like irrelevant for example classical kannada literature other than that we have various courses for example British literature, History of English Language, European in classics in translation, American Literature, Modern Indian Fiction, Diaspora studies, Literary Theory, Criticism, Russian literature, South Asian literature, Latin American Literature etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fees is Comparatively less compared with other colleges. For Odd semester I have to pay around 5000 and for even semester it's around 3500. Which includes everything from tuition fees to exam fees. All the payment are very minimal as the facilities are minimal. Since I am from OBC I am getting scholarship from state government. I am getting whole fee including mess and hostel

Campus Life

0.5

Talking about about the campus like. It's very bad. In a hostel room there are around 10 students for UG. Sports facilities are very bad. No recreational activities at all. There will be some random festivals which are organised by different departments. There is no such big festivals at all. Library is also very small with limited books especially for literature. There are no active clubs run by students. There is no such options for students to gather.

Admission

I enrolled for Ba English in Central University of Karnataka. The admission was based on the entrance exam called CUCET back then on 2021. The eligibility of course was just 55% mark in 12. The application form was there in Samarth portal of respective University. After cucet mark sheet we need to apply seperately in the university samarth portal. I got reservation as I belongs to OBC, for that I produced non-creamy layer certificate issued by Tahsildar. The whole admission process was easy. I didn't worry much.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English curriculum at the Central University of Karnataka is comprehensive and academically relevant. The course covers British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies, providing students with a strong foundation in language and literature. The interdisciplinary approach under NEP and the availability of electives were among the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course.

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.
