Course Curriculum Overview

3

Since I was interested in economics and CUK was found to be performing good in the subject, I opted cuk for my economics course. The syllabus, curriculum and course structure is pretty updated and relevant to the current scenarios. We find the classes interactive with experienced teachers. The three year course is divided into 6 semesters. The exams are conducted every 4-5 months. And they are discriptive with a moderate level of difficulty.Tge examination cell is also quite efficient and the results are published without any delay.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure in the university depends completely on the course opted. For arts subjects, the yearly fees is comparatively lower than science or engineering subjects. As of my course, economics, our semester fees is around 6000. That is around 12-13000 per year. The hostel fees is around 600 per month. That is around 7000 per year. And since we have mess facility in the campus, it would cost around 8000 for 3 months. We have to pay a caution deposit of 3000 at the time of admission also. There are different government scholarships that are available for the students for financial aids

Campus Life

3.5

As for the overall campus experience, it pretty good and lively. The campus is comprised of different schools with different departments. Therefore we have around 6000 to 7000 students in the campus. And thus the overall campus is quite lively all the time. The sports, cultural and technical fests are also active in the campus. Each department organize their own departmental fests. And the technical fests are often conducted by the engineering department. Along with these, we have th annual cultural sports fest, Ankur, conducted every March. We also celebrate and observe many religious festivals as well as regional and national festivals in the campus. The campus also have a good library with a vast range of books. The classroom infrastructure is also really good with smart board, wifi facilities as well as centralised air conditioning. As for social clubs and groups, cuk doesn't have much except for the nss. Tr nss is quite active in the campus as well as of tr campus.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

The university also offers hostel and mess facilities in the campus. Theere are around 6-7 hostels each for boys and girls. Some of the hostel rooms can accommodate around 3-4 students whereas some others with around 7-8 students. Coming to the mess facility, it's not that great. The food is adjustable. The menu is not that vast. Rice and chapathis are served for lunch and dinner. The mess is compulsory for all the residential students. There is no mess out option.

Admission

The admission to cuk was pretty easy and convenient. It was done through the Samarth portal. Since CUK is a central university under government of India, the admission was based on entrance exam, CUCET, now CUET. As for the eligibility criteria for CUET, it was 12th pass from any recognised school with a percentage of 50 or above. The application form will be available in the nta website. The application fees is 800 rupees. There are reservations for SC, ST, OBC candidates. The entrance exam will be conducted once in a year mostly in the month of April- March. The exam papers for arts and science subjects were different conducted in two different shifts. Both were moderate level exams with questions based on the subject as well as mental ability, general knowledge etc. The admission process since conducted through samarth portal made it pretty convenient. There were spot admission process as well for rest of the candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English curriculum at the Central University of Karnataka is comprehensive and academically relevant. The course covers British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies, providing students with a strong foundation in language and literature. The interdisciplinary approach under NEP and the availability of electives were among the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course.

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.
