Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

There were no specific aspects of the curriculum that influenced me to decide to choose this course. I had to join this course out of my own interest so I went for it. Here in Amrita, we have a continuous evaluation system where 60 percent of your semester score will be taken from internals and 40 per cent from externals. The internal evaluation will always be fair and unbiased. To talk about the curriculum, I feel that the tutor side should be matched according to the development in technology and a more practical way of teaching could be implemented which is very essential for an engineering student to visualise and understand. For a semester we have one midterm examination and end semester examination.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are average to good here and it starts from the 6th semester mostly. The package ranges between 6 to 12 lpa on average. Many companies like tcs, Wipro, and Bosch visit every year. Nearly 80 per cent of students get into campus placements. I would choose to higher studies after my degree

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure depends upon the slabs(which depends upon AEEE ranking) for scholarship students which ranges between 100000 to 400000 per year without hostel. Hostel fee is around 100000 per year. Caution deposit of 10k will be asked to be paid for both tuition fee and hostel fee. Bus facilities are available for Dayscholars within 35-40kms from campus at a cost between 38k to 40k per year.

Campus Life

3

Many events are conducted by the interest of students mostly after college hours (after 5pm) like flashmobs, club events on a weekly basis. Main events in campus are during Gokulashtami, Onam, Ugadi and Holi. The major technical event of the year is ANOKHA which happens every year in summer. The campus has got a vast library with 2 floors and great access to online and offline textbooks, journals and various research papers. Classrooms are provided with a projector and seatings around 65 students and non A/C. Labs are operated with computers and hardware equipments and are well maintained so far. Sports clubs are available and can be joined by students out of interest during 1st year. Also there dance club and music club which is the happening in the campus. Also we have NSS clubs, Intuit iot clubs, google development clubs etc.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostels are not much apt to this period of time since it's built long back but are maintained at the level of necessity. Two sharing and four sharing rooms are mostly given for students till 3rd year while single rooms are given from 4th year. A cot and single side of a two door cupboard is given for each student. Each floor has 2 common bathroom area with 10 restrooms and bathing area and they are cleaned 2 days once which should actually be made on a daily basis. Meal taste and quality is average and only vegetarian food is provided in hostel mess. And the menu of food is repetitive and students get used to it. Mess timings are between 7:30 and 8:30 morning and evening and between 12:30 and 2:00 pm in afternoon. Mess timings are very strict and food will be available only in those timings. The intime in hostels are around 8:30-9 pm for girls and 10pm for boys. Opt for hostel registration during the admission process. PGs are available within 1kms from the campus .

Admission

Eligibility for the course and scholarship is to appear for AEEE exam. It has 2 phases and the best out of two was considered. The application details can be found on the intranet Amrita. Non-scholarship applications will also be found along the registration forms of AEEE. The difficulty level of the exam would be medium and could be easily cracked by JEE aspirants. The choice of College branch and the department is completely based on AEEE rankings. The whole admission process would be online. The communication during the admission process could be improved because everyone aspiring to join this college from far places cannot visit campus to seek all the details.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.
