Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum for ECE is structured well enough - it is well balanced with both analog and digital aspects of electronics and communication. It does get very difficult at times, most courses will have 3 assessments (including final assessment) and 1 assignment. A good hold on mathematics is required for some courses. For a lot of the courses you'll have an accompanying lab course to actually put your theory to test using practical lab equipment. Overall, it's well structured but a bit difficult.

Internships Opportunities

5

The companies for interns are the same as companies for placements. College will prep you properly for interns under an intern mentorship process before you sit for interns. You'll need projects and preparation - alot of which can be covered if youre in a club or if you work hard enough.

Placement Experience

5

The campus placements are very good. For ECE, the average is ~20L. The thing is, you can go for management, data analytics, core ECE or software. The highest package is usually around 40-50L, the median being 21L. The companies include NVIDIA, Uber, Qualcomm, P&G, McKinsey, Google, Amazon, Rubrics, Texas Instruments and so on. Enough opportunities are there for students to go for highers as well, the institute has tie-ins with international institutes and helps alot with LORs and the procedure to apply as well.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee hikes happen every year, but the fee structure that was there when you joined college - you'll follow that structure only till your graduation. Scholarships are available - a lot of alumni provide scholarships to students through RECAL (our Alumni network), there's a JSPF scholarship available. On a regular basis, paid projects might also be available from certain professors. As for the fees, every odd semester I pay ~80K for tution fees and ~20-30K for hostel+mess. For even semesters, it's ~70K and ~20-30K respectively.

Campus Life

5

The SW part of college is perhaps the best. From clubs like 180DC, Delta Force, Spider R&D, and PSI - all achieving success in their domains to fests like Aaveg, NITTFEST, Festember, and Pragyan. All fest teams will teach you a lot about how to work, the marketing teams will teach you about corporate life, the clubs will help you so much in your career with their alumni network and the overall work you do in a club will improve your skills vastly. We have SportsFete, the sports fest and contingent teams for every sport that goes onto tournaments - for which the travel is usually reimbursed by the institute.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facilities could be improved alot, but you'll get common water coolers, bathrooms and in your room basic amenities like chairs, tables, fan. Mess food isnt something I would recommend, the quality is subpar but theres a mess for every type of cuisine - south, north and so on. In your second year and onwards you can switch as per your demand and eat the meals you want.

Admission

The application process is simple - apply for JEE Mains, get a decent enough rank to get into NIT Tiruchirappalli. By no means it is an easy task, NIT Tiruchirappalli ranks first amongst all NITs in this country. JEE Mains happens twice an year, once in January (or February), and then once in March (or April). There's reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD, and other than that there's reservation if youre graduating from high school from the same state the college is in i.e Tamil Nadu.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is very good - rarely you'll see one professor taking multiple courses. Each faculty is experienced a lot in their field - they're a bit orthodox at times and can be a bother to deal with but they do not lack in their knowledge. Any doubts you have, you can approach the respective faculty in their cabin, and rest assured - it'll be answered. You can pursue interns under professors as well (for those interested in research), and if you're interested to go beyond the curriculum for a particular course - the faculty will be more than happy to help you out.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
