- Extra Curricular activities in Kirori Mal College are really vibrant and there is huge learning curve and great experience for one in Kirori Mal College, during my time here, there was always something happening in the college.
- Kirori Mal College has one of the best faculty for Political Science, Economics and Commerce in entire Delhi University
- Some might say KMC lacks in infrastructure, it might be true in some cases but even with those limited resources, KMC is one of the best college of not just Delhi University but entire India.
Dislikes
- Obviously the campus size and infrastructure is less developed, there's always space crunch in the college for classrooms and activities
- Placements are not very good and so is the case for most DU colleges. Only around 250-300 students get good packages each year.
- Not all teachers are as qualified as they should be. Classes are often irregular.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since KMC follows the curriculum that Delhi University and UGC prescribes, there's not much extra that KMC can do with it. The syllabus is overall pretty outdated, specially in technical courses like Geography, Computer Science and other Sciences but KMC has some extra subjects and activities that no other college of Delhi University has. Facilities like Aquaculture, Bio Floc, Mushroom Culture are unique to Kirori Mal College. KMC is the only college in North Campus that Offers Analytical Chemistry and Computer Science in B.Sc. degree.
Internships Opportunities
There are vast internship opportunities available in the college via the Placement Cell. There are active internship recruitments approximately every day with new ones replacing the old ones. Companies Providing intenships include Ernst & Young, DE Shaw, Zomato, ICICI, Paytm and many more. The average internship stipend ranged from 15,000 to 20,000 with highest being 60,000
Placement Experience
There is a well defined Placement cell in the college that provides internship opportunities to all students and placement to students of final year. There are always active internship drives going on in the college. The average placement lies at 8LPA with highest being 21.5LPA by DE Shaw this year
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a Central government supported college, the fee is very affordable, it costs around 10,000 to 20,000 per year depending on the course and admission category. Apart from this, there are various financial support schemes from the college and the central government also. College gives scholarships and fee negotiation to certain Economically weaker students.
Campus Life
The campus life and extra curricular activities in KMC are excellent, there are more than 60 clubs and societies in the college, some of them being unique to KMC only such as the Centre For Innovation and Social Enterprise and Centre For Disability Research and Training. KMC has a rich history of cultural activities with many prominent celebrities xoming out of KMC, most notable being Amitabh Bachchan, Divyendu Sharma, Satish Kaushik, KK, Raj Shekhar and many more. The theatre society, The Music Society, The Film Making Society are the most prominent ones not just in Du but all over India.
Admission
During my time, the admission was done on the Merit basis but mow admissions are done on the basis of CUET scores. Curriculum of CUET is of moderate level, consisting of Class 12 syllabus. Kirori Mal College was the most preferred college among CUET aspirants in 2023 so securing admission in KMC is a pretty tough task.
Faculty
Faculty in Kirori Mal College is qualified and good at teaching overall but I cannot say this for all faculty members, as there are very less experienced faculty members right now due to recent recruitments and promotions. Many old and great faculties have been retired and new inexperienced faculties have joined. Overall KMC has been known for its great facilty members. Some departments like Mathematics, English, Economics, Life Sciences, Chemistry have great teachers.
