Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have been influenced to choose this corner for my liking towards the history and because of some guidance that i received from the people and also the fact that it is immensely helpful to you in your preparation for the civil service exam . The curriculum if followed closely will get you prepare so well for the upcoming exams and further study and you'll get opportunities to represent yourself . Considering the improvement , the professors could've been asked to lecture the class based on the topic wise approach with less no of readings and material .. The frequency and timing of the exam was perfect and this didn't need a mention of any complaints .. one has to go through internals and the semester exam for which you've to get some writing practice ..

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Mentioning about the internships , there were numerous number of internships that has been offered to the students with variety of being paid and unpaid .. The college WhatsApp groups were full of these opportunities and one can take the internship considering his or her talent and interest .

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly course fee which i paid was around 12000 and apart from that there was some exam fee which was affordable and above that there were concessions for the marginalised section too .. The administration was efficient and the technical support was good enough.. The faculty for the history was good and friendly and considered one of the best ..

Campus Life

4.5

There were a lot of fests and functions that were held in the college premises but to mention something special , i would like to talk about the delhi tour of one day which we had and it was the best as it introduce you to the culture and history of delhi and you get along with your mates .. The books and reading material available in library is satisfactory upto the mark and the books are somewhat available and sometimes not .. sometimes the books available are not even issued so that is something to keep in mind . Considering the facilities , one receives all the basic facilities like fan or maybe ac and the drinkable water with affordable edible items available in canteen . About the sports and other activities like singing , the atmosphere is perfect and you'll get complete assistance in that as there are several societies working specially for that .

Admission

I've mainly applied to colleges like Hindu and Hansraj along with Kirori Mal and my preference was Hansraj due to some personal liking towards the infrastructure but i couldn't get admission into Hansraj in the first cutoff list and i get myself enrolled in Kirori mal .. though later in the second cut off list , i cleared the admission in Hansraj but i didn't bother to move because the faculty and everything was good at its best in kirori mal too . Admission process to the college was smooth and easy once you step into the college premises as there will be students working as volunteers to help you out with every problem..

Faculty

4

The strength of the students was just perfect .. The relationship between the students and teacher was good as they were friendly in teaching and they consider showing their efforts to every student .. Subject to my liking towards the faculty, i would appreciate Ms Shahana Bhattacharya , the professor of history who was impressive and will help you out in every sphere of your college life o lo ike a guardian .. There aren't much examples of faculty i didn't like but there was a teacher named Jitesh who was responsible for teaching environment . I didn't like him for his over interference in students life . The exams were divided into two ie internals and the semester exams and the internals were easy to qualify though you've to study hard for the semester to get good marks ..

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
