Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Much or lesser the same in all colleges in india but manipals computer science course followed more of the system of nits and iits, as advised by the seniour so i chose this course. As i am still in my second year i wont be able to answer how well it prepares me for the real world problems but i can assure that whatever they teach is indeed very usefull. Certain subjects taught in the first yest like chemistry or physics werent required as i did not find any relevance of it to the course i am pursuing. The teachers were indeed very knowledgeable but the subjects werent of much need for the course. The toughness of the exams depend in the portions too but mostly tend to be on the medium side as some subjects are really tought and some are really easy and thus makes it balanced. The exam frequency might not be a lot but there are enough quizzes and assignments in between to keep the heat active during the semester.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students are eligible for placement from the 8th senester though they can apply for internships from the 5th onwards which helps them improve academically and professionally. As microsoft CEO Satya Nadela is a notabke alumni of MIT the company often visits for placements and tends to give the highest placements to the students in the college. Over 220 recruiters come to the campus for placements and propose various placements and manipal has 93 percentage placement rate in 2022-2023 and 74 percentage placement rate in 2023-2024. The highest package offered was 51.03LPA and the lowest package accepted was 10.49 LPA. My plans after getting the degree is mainly to work in the placement that i get hopefully for a few yesrs then plan for a masters or mba within those 3 years and move to that feild as it will help my career bloom within years making me more financially stable and secure.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is accordingly for the batch of 2023-2027 (Computer Science Engineering (AI & ML) : First year: Tution fees: 214000 Other Academic fees: 191000 Total: 405000 Second, Third & Final year: Tution fees: 318000 Other Academic fees: 191000 Total: 509000 The fee structure of Civil Engineering branch is: First year: Second, Third & Final year: 431000/yr The fees is indeed on the higher end of the spectrum but it is a private college so it reasons it out. Ofcourse the facilities provided are upto the mark and top notch. The fees are increased for every new bath. There is scholarship based on income level of the parents of students who get great ranks in the MET written exam. Ofcourse there is no full ride scholarship but there is a concession which is good enough based on the rank and parents annual income. There are different types of programs and scholarships awarded to different students based on eligibility, kindly check the MAHE website.

Campus Life

5

There are two fests held in the campus every year and in the odd semester the fest held is called tech tatva which is the technical fest. The even semester fest is called revels which is the cultural fest and both are held around the time of october or march in either of the semesters. The range of books in the library is insane and immense as all the books that one student would need is available making it a great library with lots of facilities. The technologies and facilities given in classrooms for students to learn are amazing and especially my favourite is the impartus which records videos of every class and uploads it to the website in which we can watch the class we have missed or not paid attention in. Manipal has the largest sports complex in india called marena that provides too notch facilities for sports for a very affordable price making it extremely helpfull and easy for the students boosting student life. The student clubs are always blooming with much to do and learn.

Hostel Facilities

5

Air Conditioning, fans, attached washrooms, cots, study tables, chairs, cupboards and shelves. The rooms of the hostel are very well furnished and well maintained. The food in the mess is hygenic and always has a great spread which is good enough to cater the student life present here. The quality of the food is maintained well here. Registering for hostels and mess is done online through the portals offered by MAHE and the amount to be paid is quite affordable. Havent rented a PG or Room yet but will do the next year which will be within 2 km distance from the college as the appartments here are very close by which makes it easier for students to reach college on time every day.

Admission

I did apply to vit and srm and got admission in both but still chose manipal over both as the student intake is lesser here and the course structure and placement stats are better. The other colleges do show a equally good placament stat but the amount of student intake makes it a very tough and competitive competition to come out blooming. I also applied in nits and bits but did not get throught due to last minute preparation for the jee and bitsat competitive exams as there are people preparing for it since years which gives me a push back not being able to compete equally with them. The admission process of my college MIT is solely based on the MET exam which is held in two sessions and based on the rank u get in the exam the courses are provided from which you can pick what you would like to pursue. Its always better to score about 60 for the exam as it confirms you a seat in the college and above 100 if you want to ourse the best courses offered. Overall process was very smooth.

Faculty

4

The student ratio here in 1:15 which is pretty standard and good. Student faculty relationship is pretty average, as the majority of students dont really interact with the teachers and only the ones that are interested in research or projects interact with the teachers. The faculties are very approachable and friendly, ofcourse there are few exceptions but majority are very nice. The electrical department teachers are extremely smart and friendly and know their subject very well and work towards the wellfare of students. My personal favorite teacher was divya shetty who taught me electrical in the first year and gave so much interest onto that subject despite it being the toughest. In the second semester the electronics teacher wasn't good at teaching and just wasted time every period, i would not like to mention the name but most of the electronics department is very bad at teaching. The exam pattern is 30-50-20, mid & endsems and internals

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
