The college should try to make some strict rules regarding attendance in lecture and labs and try to bring good company for campus placements.
Entrance Preview
I Took WBJEE in 2011 and secured 72600 rank. I went for the counselling at salt lake at I got pailan college, CIT uliberia and Seacom engineering college among few to choose from. I selected Secaom because my brother friend studied there and he recommended me to go for secaom.
Course Curriculum Overview
The B.tech couse is 4 year course in which we have 8 semester in total and before every semester we use to have 2 internal exam each of 15 marks. Based upon the performance of the internal exam the college used to send those markks for final inter alia at university. Every semester we used to have 5-6 subject and the pass mark for each subject was 40. The grade was from O to F while O means above 90 and F means below 40 and Fail in that particular subject.
Internships Opportunities
There was no such things as internship in our college as no company used to come for offering internship. We just used to have summer training either from college or from any private institute. It was just like a certification in any particular subject and it was not mandatory for all to do the summer training. Those not interested to do the summer training used to get refund from college for the amount which we paid as training fee.
Placement Experience
The placed is not good at all we were asked to pay 5000 each for placement but then also no body got a good job and most of the company which came were fake.
College Events
In secaom we used to celebrate fresher's day, annual program and all the festival all the events were celebrated very nicely well planned and executed.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee was expensive compared to the college reputation and facilities provided by the college we used to pay around 95000 yearly fee college used to take amount for labs and book and training but no such facilities were provided. The management was only focused to collect as much money as possible from student but we never used to get any facilities and as a result we always used to have conflict between student and teachers will leads to strike in college for several days.
Fees and Financial Aid
I must say this is the only field where our college were good at. The college itself used to give fee waiver to student in need and we also used to get scholarship from west Bengal govermnet.
Campus Life
The campus life at seacom was good because of the fact that there was no pressure form faculty to study so student get lpta of opportunity to enjoy in college we used to have cricket and basket ball completion which both tea her and student used to participate.
Hostel Facilities
No Hostel in our college.Hostel were only provide for marine engineering student the student coming form different states used to face lots of problem because of lack of hostel. Those student used to take flats on rent which were costly and have to make t
Alumni/Alumna
The senior were very good in our college all were helping and supportive there was no such things as ragging. The seniors just used to take formal introductions which were fun and provided us a great opportunity to interact with our seniors and during the exam times they used to help us in our studies.I loved my seniors.
Exam Structure
We usually used to have 1 lab every day for either of the subject lab was good but they were not strict as moat of the used to bunk labs.
Faculty
The faculty was not up to the mark they don't put much effort to student while the student too never put any extra effort to gain knowledge form teacher.
