Dislikes
- The arrear system, cuz we have to attend classes again from the beginning and write internals, assignments, finals all over again, by paying a fee of ₹6000
- Timing restrictions for girls, we can only go out for 2hr on weekdays, and 4 on weekends, and if you extend the timing, they’ll cancel your outing for minimum 1 week to more than a month, but this isn’t the case for boys, they don’t have restriction
- Leave approval for going home is insane, they won’t let you go home or anywhere else even when parents approve, again this is only for girls. Also there are many exit gates in the campus, but girls can only use the main gate, whereas boys can use any
Course Curriculum Overview
VIT vellore is best for biotechnology, however it should be more lab oriented. We are forced to learn CS subjects if we want placements. It could use better curriculum. There aren't any industrial visits
Internships Opportunities
Computer science has good internships from huge companies like, tcs, optum, Microsoft, infosys, etc. biotech has no internship opportunities through college, we have to find on our own. Mechanical engineering also has good internships.
Fees and Financial Aid
Your fee depends on how u perform on the entrance, then there 4 fee categories, where the fee ranges from 1 lakh to 5 lakh. Fee is constant throughout course duration. If you fail a subject you have to pay a fee of ?6000 and attend those classes and write exam again
Campus Life
Students in vit are diverse, all enthusiastic and intelligent. You can get good contacts. The clubs and chapters here are what is best about vit. They are active, some event happening everyday, and you can get a lot of exposure
Hostel Facilities
AC rooms are available. Hostels have modern architecture and look good. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. It's cleaned everyday. Each hostel block has a different caterer, there are A-J blocks for girls , so the food quality and tastes depend on caterers.
Admission
I applied here because, vit vellore is best for btech. Biotechnology. No other college had so much exposure compared to vit. Vit is esteemed University with diverse students. There are other good colleges for bsc biotech but vit is best for btech
Faculty
Most of the faculty is bad, they'll purposely fail you, 9 out 10 students in vit would have an arrear in atleast 2 subjects. There are 2 internal exams, CAT 1 & 2, and assignments & quiz, and final exam, per semester. The papers are usually difficult.
