Remarks
College as a whole needs to be more student friendly and make creativity a part and parcel of the curriculum they offer. Since it is an autonomous institute, there needs to be a robust and fill proof committee to hear our students problems and encourage the students to come out to speak of the problems they face.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very well thought out and is constantly changed to adapt to the changing working environment that we engineers are put into. The course consists of eight semesters and the courses that a candidate fails can be attended at the end of the academic year.
Placement Experience
Placements are better in other departments like CS, IS and EC but it sucks in the rest of the department. The numbers they put up in newspapers is an aggregate of the placements which normalizes and gives an idea as though many in a class gets placed. But in reality, placements are good only in certain departments and not all.
College Events
Many clubs keep on conducting various events in the college. Individual departments also conduct their departmental fest once in two years. Apart from that, the annual college fest takes place in the month of February or March.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible compared to other colleges in Mysuru. I had two friends in different college and their fee was a bit more than what we used to pay at Nie. The fee can be paid online or through a challan during the starting of each odd semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not aware of any such schemes or scholarship. Some of my friends were studying on a student loan. Apart from that, I haven't heard of any scholarships offered from the college to the students. One.
Campus Life
Labs at Nie are very well equipped as far as civil engineering is concerned. Even mechanical has one of the best laboratories in Karnataka. Some of the are sponsored through tequip. As for sports, there are good facilities for sports with a field and an indoor stadium.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has consistently been working on building the alumni network but I haven't witnessed any of my friends being benefitted through this alumni network. We get regular updates on the alumni network which are mostly useless.
Faculty
The faculty are highly educated. One seldom finds so many lecturers with Ph.D. in one department itself. But some of them are very ill equipped as teachers and tend to be arrogant. There is no scope for creativity. And while seeing the lecturers through many phases, one feels that they only work hard and give their best during the accreditation process.
