Remarks

It’s quite understandable that not every college in delhi can have hostel for students due to the limited space. But just 10 steps away fron college you’ll find best and cheap PGs and flats to stay for almost ?7-10k per month and ?12-20k per month (1-4 person) respectively.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course that I opted for has a very good structure. You’ll get to read British Literature, European Drama, Indian, Modern Literature, Backgrounds. More than 15 novels pet semester. Trust me if you’re into Literature and if you’re from humanities you gonna fall in love with this course. There’s so much to read and know about. With the best friendly professors always there to help. And as I said you’ll be a different person altogether. It changed my personality in just 3-4 months and I am a totally different person now.

Internships Opportunities

You’ll keep on getting various internships programs almost every month. Again it depends on the profile, most of the time they’re paid but sometimes not. There’s a separate society in college that deals with internships i.e, Internship Cell of SBSC, which keeps on coming with the internships every now and then.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement of my college is quite good comparing to other colleges of same level. The average package is around 4-5 lac per annum. Again there’s a separate society for placements, The Placement Cell Of SBSC, with over 150 members to coordinate with companies and to make sure every student land on a chair after the graduation.

College Events

5

It starts from the College Freshers Party then there is separate freshers party for every department. The Shaheedi Diwas, Diwali Mela, Then comes the fest season, which every student waits for, eagerly. There’s celebration/party environment everyday in the college for almost one month. Everday there is a separate fest of every society and department. You’ll get to see decorations everyday, you’ll get to taste mouth watering food every day from the different food stalls and food trucks. And you’ll get to hear good music and you’ll get to dance everyday. Best part, you’ll get to wear your best clothes these days. **The important part is you’ll get to showcase your talent these days by participating in various events happening in college. And guess what, there’s a huge cash prize and goodies for every winner in these events. You’ll make some good memories with your friends these days that you’ll cherish in the future. And you’ll make some good senior friends at this time you’ll always help you in hard times. Then there come the main college fest and you’ll get to see some celebrities in your college performing. Then the separate farewell party for each department and society. Then comes the main Farewell. When your seniors might cry.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of my college is very feasible. It is around ?8,000 once a year which includes the examination fee and the tution fee. Also you’ll get a free laptop for one year which you’ll have to return after one year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college provides scholarships to the bright students every year. Based on the academic and extra curricular activities of the students, the college select students from each department every year and reward them with various scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

Our college provides every sport equipments for the students from Ludo, Table Tennis to Cricket kit and Lawn Tennis. You name it. We have a huge playground with basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court etc. and sports room for indoor sports. And our college also provides coaches and trainers to the college teams. We have laboratory for every department. Equipped with various equipments and experienced staff.

Hostel Facilities

5

Shaheed Bhagat Singh college had been awarded by “A” grade by the NAAC team. For those who don’t know about it, it means that the college has excellent infrastructure and facilities including the canteen, restrooms, the sports equipment and facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college organises alumni meet every year and invites them to various events. The seniors are very friendly and helpful to their juniors and we treat our juniors as our friends. There campus if ragging free altogether and there’s no discrimination at all. Infact we hangout with our juniors as well.

Exam Structure

There are 6 semesters in 3 year programme. And internals in every subject every semester. 25 marks stands for internals and 75 for externals. Internals consists of class tests and assignments and 5 marks for attendance. (So you better attend the classes).

Admission

The admission process of Delhi University has always been stressful for the outsiders. It all started when the Delhi University forms came out, I filled the form the very first day. I wasn’t aware of the admission process at all and also I belong to a very small district of Uttar Pradesh. So, I used to sit on my computer for hours everyday just to clear my doubts about the admission process. The “best four” percentage that the University consider for the admission varies for each course. And trust me it’s not at all confusing as I thought it is. The forms usually comes around 1st of May. I suggest you to get all the certificates listed on their website atleast one month before the admission process starts. And you’re ready to pack your bags. I couldn’t sleep the night before the first cutoff day. Then finally the first cutoff came and I checked it around 4 o’clock in midnight. I was confused whether my best four is 91.75 or 89.25 because I had PCM in +2 and I wanted to opt for Literature. (So if you change your stream, i.e. from science to commerce, 2.5% will be deducted from the top four percentage). So on day one I took the first train from my hometown to Delhi at 5AM and I reached there on time. And I took admission in Deshbandhu College. Then the third cutoff came, and I wasn’t satisfied from the college in which I got myself into, in the first cutoff. So, I googled the top colleges of Delhi university and BAMM! Shaheed Bhagat Singh College was the 10th out of 40-45 colleges of Delhi University. So I withdrew my application from Deshbandhu College and went straight to Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. And the atmosphere and staff was so nice and humble there I couldn’t wait for the classes to get started. Then after one month, in the 8th cutoff I was getting Hansraj College but I didn’t feel like changing the college despite the fact that it was the 2nd best college of Delhi University, because I was so much impressed by the professors of my college. Advice to all those who are thinking of taking admission in University of Delhi. Don’t believe in myths about the admission process. Don’t feel lazy to change your college. Just go and take admission in good colleges. You’ll be a different person altogether after one year. Also you’ll fall in love with the city and your college. :)

Faculty

5

The faculty of my college is one of the biggest reasons for not changing the college. I don’t have words to describe them. That would be an understatement. But seriously they are the best professors I’ve met in my life and highly educated and friendly.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.
