Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is really relevant to the current industrial field, that is something that no one can speak against. Maybe there could be more induction type courses but again it's fine as it is. The exams are really frequent tho, with CA's occurring frequently and the semester examinations taking place every 2 months

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship programs offered by the university is crucial to career development as it gives and provides on field experience in the industries, helping us to polish and sharpen our skill set in the industry even more. Some of the companies associated with AVV are TNPL,HPL,TATA etc

Placement Experience

4

From what I've heard and seen from alumni and friends, Amrita's placements are top-notch. Arguably one of the best in the nation. Though the scam from fake companies recruiting freshers is known to be happening for a while.

Fees and Financial Aid

In the tuition fee structure, the scholarship based admission is divided into 3 categories: Slab 1: 90+ JEE or top rank in Amrita's entrance exam.. varies for people from different backgrounds however. Slab 1 students usually have to pay around 1 Lakh Per Year Slab 2: those students who come just short of the first slab critireas fit into slab 2, where they pay around 1.6Lakh Per Year Slab 3: The final slab for scholarships, where students who don't fall under the first two slabs but still maintain enough marks to meet the scholarship critirea. They have to pay around 2 Lakh Non Scholarship and NRI/International admission based: The Non Scholarship fee for my course(Chem Engg) is at around 2.5 Lakh per year whereas an option for NRI/International students does not currently exist, the average fee is around 8-10 Lakh for those categories

Campus Life

5

Well Amrita's main highlight is our events and clubs. We celebrate nearly each and every Indian festival, along with our own tech fests and all. Anokha is the biggest fest though, even inviting world known artists to come and perform in coimbatore. There are clubs for nearly all aspects of societal liking. They are fun to be a part of but of course there's a lot of heavy lifting involved

Hostel Facilities

1

Hostel quality is poor. The treatment given to some first year department students in regards to accommodation is actually sickening. As a student who belongs to a minor department, we've been allotted horrible old rooms whereas the major departments have got nice new rooms. Even though we pay the same fee as them. Despite our numerous complaints they've done nothing. The Mess food is horrible, animals & inspects have been found inside them for months and nothings changed till now

Admission

I applied to a bunch of a colleges and got accepted into all except one, as they stopped their course enrollment before I registered. My initial plan was to stay back with my parents in Dubai and get my degree in Chem Engineering from BITS Pilani, but due to some circumstances I chose Amrita. I had appeared for the AIEEE exam as well even tho it didn't really help in my admission process

Faculty

3

Faculties differ from one to another. As a first year student we have a lot of courses offered from other department faculties, since their courses are part of our curriculum too. Not all of them are nice to students outside their own departments, however so far it's been alright with the faculty. There are a few faculties who make life difficult for students on purpose, but we've to live by it. There are around 7-8 papers to clear every semester. 2-4 of these papers are relatively easy and the rest is kinda challenging. So far from our class only a few have failed in courses.

Night Life

3

Gym's are open from 5-7:30 on weekdays, there are three different gyms with a few equipments in all. There's an open ground near the first year hostel where all the sporting activities take place & people often play football and cricket on the large ground. For first year boys the closing timing is 9PM, you've to enter the hostel before 9. And the library closes at 7:30, same with all the canteens unless there's an event for which extensions are given. Famous hang out spots include Canteen, ground, near natraja statue

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.
