One of the best engineering colleges in WestBengal

Jadavpur University takes admission through WBJEE which is state entrance exam of West Bengal. I don't remember my exact score, but my rank was 1797. I wanted to study electrical engineering but due to the low score I had to satisfy myself with Power engg which is similar to mechanical but with constricted syllabus.

I did one internship this year at Adani thermal power plant, Mundra. But it was not a college internship. overall experience was good and got to learn a lot things and got a practical experience of being in a thermal power plant and working with experienced engineers. We will have our college internship this summer. Generally a stipend of rs 10,000 is provided to the students.

Placements is good for the core branches as all the big brands visit our college every year and select good amount of students. The branches with the best placement scenario is the cse department. There is a pool of job opportunities if you have a good communication skills and have a overall good academic performance. Some of the companies are Honda, Microsoft,Amazon,Cesc,U sigma and the list unending. The packages depends on the performance of the student in the interview.

Now in this category our college should top the list. The events celebrated every year are CIIPUS(freshers),Uturn(freshers),Sanskriti(cultural fest),Srijan(Tech fest), departmental reunion (in my case it is BLITZ) and many small events.

In this case Jadavpur is one of the cheapest colleges in India. We have to pay just 2500 per year as college fees, yes you heard it right there is no mistake here, which includes from tuition to library and every other fees. All total we had to pay just rs10000 as college fees. So, it is the most feasible college in India.

I don't about loans but there are scholarships for the students whose father income is less than 1,80,000. There are scholarships for the minorities and SC/ST students. I don't know the exact names of the as I don't fall in any category.

Our university has all the year different extracurricular activities being held like the fests, sports competitions,workshops, debates, robotic competitions, hackers competition etc. The life inside the university is very nice. There is a lot of interactions among the student and every one are readily for help. We have even organised student rallies against the government whenever we feel our rights are being compromised. We have our own student union by the FETSU which is very much active.

Being one of the oldest universities in India our alumni network is huge. In every sector you will find our senior students working at good positions and creating jobs.
