Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course due to my interest in the field, but the course is rooted in building fundamentals and a strong foundation. The curriculum is industry relevant and with good upskilling on the side, its a very good combo. Allowing students to bring laptops to class and use them to solve problems would be a great next step. The frequency of exams is too frequent, it almost feels like you are writing exams every 2 weeks (as per academic schedule). The difficulty level depends on the grading curve of your class as it is reltive grading.

Internships Opportunities

3

College usually urges us to do industrial internships without their help and stack our resume as much as possible for placement season. Getting an internship is usually tough on campus as many students apply and competition is brutal. Internships on campus are usually given to students with above 9cgpa. The industrial internship registration is open to all during its respective time on VTOP. The internship usually depends on the skills which can be provided by the student

Placement Experience

3

students become eligible for placements from 5th or 6th sem onwards but it is important to not have any arrears. Few companies that often recruit from here are TCS, Accenture, infosys, Microsoft, Schneider and etc. Highest pkg offered this year was 1Cr and avg placement across all branches is 7.7LPA. 96% of eligible candidates got placed according to reports, but real info is unknown. I plan to pursue MBA after my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was in category 5, so I had to pay tuition fee of 5 lakh and I opted for 2AC hostel room which is a bit on the higher side at around one lakh fifty thousand a year. They take a caution deposit of thirty thousand but it is refundable at the end of your course. There is no reservation for any caste based reimbursements. Category 1 pays the least with just 2 lakhs of tuition fee per year. It is worth mentioning that after 1st year everyone is allotted rooms in accordance with their grades, so the hostel rates vary.

Campus Life

5

Riveira is the college fest and graVITas is the techinal fest, they are held every year. The library is accessible to all students throughout the entire day, and almost every book that you would possibly need for your course and beyond is available there. The classroom is tech integrated, pushing biometric assisted attendance and projectors to aid in hybrid learning. All the major sports like football, cricket, badminton, swimming, chess, volleyball, handball are present here. VIT has 175 clubs to choose from ranging across all domains.

Hostel Facilities

4

The room has shelves, cupboards, mirror, tables, plastic chairs, metal bed frames, ceiling fan and AC. The food quality varies from mess to mess, The darling mess food quality is really good and very hygenic. The registration process for the hostels is done via the freshers portal after the payment of tution fees. The hostel has rooms varying from single to six sharing capacity and the option to choose between AC and NON AC is also available. If opting for a higher sharing capacity and NON AC, it is quite affordable might be a bit on the higher side if choosing AC and less capacity. The hostel block is within campus but about a kilometre walk to the academic block.

Admission

I got into SRM, MIT Manipal, SNIST delhi NCR, and few top colleges from TS EAPCET. I chose this college due to its national brand and recruiter familiarity. I only faced rejections from colleges in JOSAA counselling and BITS, my entrance exams for those institutions did not go well. The only way to get admission to VIT vellore is through the VITEEE exam and VIT online counselling following it up. The cutoffs are disclosed.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio in our class is 1:60. The faculty are all very nice and clear doubts without hesitation and getting angry. They are patient with everyone and makes sure people who are putting effort get their help. I liked our computation structures teacher Dr. Arun Prasath, he explained even some tricky topics in a simple manner which made learning easier. I didnt like our Maths teacher Animesh Roy, he is very fast in class and expects us to know pre requisites of advanced topics. I havent written any exams yet, but the course curriculum is updated for the 2025 batch and is industry relevant.

Interview Experience

4

There were no written exams or GD or interviews for the admission process. It was conducted as a CBT at an assigned test centre. The required exam for admission is the VITEEE and a counselling process succeeds the exam via which students can apply to their desired campus and course.

Night Life

1

Night mess is available from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM inside the hostel block. Classes usually end at around 7:20 and everyone is pushed to move out from the academic block to hostel blocks at around 8PM. Hostel intime for male freshers is 8:30PM, but just make sure you are in your room during attendance and you will be fine. The wifi is disabled at 1:30 AM though. Some good hangout places would be the greenos foodys near the tech tower, DC bakery, and SJT foodys.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
