Course Curriculum Overview

5

if i am being honest about the reason about why i joined this course then it's simple i was a bit interested in the metals and materials field and it's applications in real world life and also because this is NIT TRICHY. the curriculum prepares you pretty well for the real world applications, for the industry, related job fields and for pursuing higher studies in foreign universities or IITs. I felt that courses were a little outdated and not upto the mark as i expected and a little bit of updation is required in their curriculum and new courses such as different languages and courses like introdcution to economics, history, etc from the first year would have been a nice thing.

Internships Opportunities

5

studemts going for intership from 3rd year itself and many companies offer students paid internships and almost mostly offer you job in the same company. the companies that offer interships are goldman-sachs, nvidia, quolcomm, google, microsoft, texas intstruments, deliotte, tata steel, schnieder electric, siemens, etc and many more companies come to offer internship to students of 3rd year here

Placement Experience

5

The students start sitting for placement from 6th semester i.e the end of third year itself, while many students start getting job offers at the start of 7th semester itself. The placememt percentage here is very good it is around 90% amd the average placement for 2025 placement session is around 15.76 lakh or maybe higher since results are not made available to us ye, the highest offer is around 55lakh+ according to some fourth year students. The number of companies visiting us are many; they include tech giants such as google, microsoft, amazon, sony, samsung, NVIDIA, quolcomm, AMD, Yahoo and highliting companies are Ceat, Volvo, Wolkswagen, LT, Bosch, mcafee and the list goes on and on and on. i plan on getting a job and then going for higher studies in a foreign university.

Fees and Financial Aid

the normal fee structure for a student without any sort of remission is 2.75 lakh for 1st year and this includes tution fees, hostel fees, institute fee, internet fee, medical fee, etc. the tution fee for first year is 125000 (62500 per semester) and the hostel fee for first year is around 1lakh(for first sem it's 53000 and for second semester it's around 48000.the hostel fee for consecutive semester decreases). for ews student you get remission but the remission amount depends on your ews category for e.g, for below 1 lakh the remission amount is 62500 meaning you don't have to pay tution fee but you still have to pay the the rest amount like hostel fee, internet fee, computer lab, medical fee, etc the amount comes down to 150,950(this includes hostel fee). for ews category greater than 1lakh but lesser than 5lakh then per semester you get a remission of 66% meaning 41,834, so the amount payable is around 20,666 meaning per semester you have to pay 1.91 lakh(including hostel fee and other fee) and for above 5lakh but below 8lakh you get no remission whatsoever. There are many types of scholarship available for students like NSP,airtel scholarship(but this is for circuital branches and cse only),there are many other scholarships. the fee structure for sc/st category is same as ews below 1lakh. Overall the course is quite afordability

Campus Life

5

NIT trichy has mainly 4 main annual fests which are Festember:the largest cultural fest of south india where approxiamtely 18000 students attend it from over 500 different colleges. many guest lectures, workshops are conducted and many informal events are also conducted there which are quite fun and their proshows and concerts are just another level. it is held in the month of september Pragyan:The annual Technical fest of NIT Trichy, it is an ISO certified tech fest focusing on the technology and to showcase the real world application of the knowledge we gain here. it is held in month of february it also has many guest lectures and fun workshops which you can participate and some fun informal event and Proshows too where they conduct concerts and such. NITTFEST: it is an interdepartmental annual competition-cum-fest where all the department compete each other against various cultural events like nukkad natak, dance competition, singing, group dance, instrument, qawwali and many other events like these. there are other things like guest lectures, proshows, informals, workshops too.it is held in the month of march Sportsfete: it is the annual inter departmental sports competition where all the department compete against each other in various sports and such there are many sports and some proshows and workshops are also there. it is held in the month of august or september

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are decent i think in first year there are 3 people in a single room, while room can hold three people the cupboards provided are for only two peoples so you have to make do by having some mutual trust.the bathrooms are decent and are cleaned regularly so not much probem in this aspect just sometimes there's issues of water shortage that lasts upto days sometimes. earlier there used to be problems like 5 rooms using a single wifi which is providing terrible speeds, one water cooler per hostel and no washing machine. But now there is individual wifi in each and every room and there is water cooler on every floor and there is automatic washing machine in every hostels. registeration for hostel is simple you get randomly alloted the hostel in first year after paying the fee on college website and for second year hostel you again get randomly alloted the rooms when you go with your decided roomate.

Admission

i was getting many other colleges and among them many were top nits such as suratkhal, rourkela, allahabad, warangal, jaipur, surat, calicut, nagpure and many others but i chose NIT Trichy over all of them because of better peer group, much better track record than others, possibilty of going for other job streams like manangment, consulting, finance, etc as well. The title of being a NIT Trichy graduate is one of the reasons i suppose that made me come here.

Faculty

4

so for the exam structure...well there are mainly three exams which are: cycle test 1 and 2 and the end semester exam the both CTs are of 20 marks each and generally the end semester exam is of 40 marks and for rest marks you have to give assignments and sometimes quizzes or presentstions too. the exams are moderate and if you study even a few days before it you can still get a pretty good grade. The faculty members are quite approachable and friendlier but just do not get on their bad side. faculty and student relationship is quite good.

Night Life

5

the nightlife is pretty good here but that is only applicable to second or senior boys ,all girls and first years have a curfew timing of 9:45(for boys ) and 9 for girls. at night many snack shops are open and canteens like sara foods, chaat khazana, billy nites, siva foods, etc provide good and delectable food at affordable prices. first years get alloted garnet A and B and agate. the most famous hangout spot after classes is deifnitely either coke station or 2k market. the college is safe to roam around during night but i wouldn't say the same for the area outside campus as it is a highway. the gym is open from morning 5 to 8 and same timing in evening. the library on weekdays is open until 9 and on weekends its open until 5 in the evening only. this is one of the worst things i found about this college. there are some gates that gets closed to prevent students from doing something crazy and also provide a partition between girls and boys hostels.
