Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum at NIT Jalandhar is highly relevant and comprehensive offering a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. The inclusion of updated core and elective subjects, programming labs and industry oriented projects influenced my decision to join .The curriculum equips students well for real world applications internships and further studies with a strong focus on current technologies and skills in demand. Exams are held mid semester and end semester each term with regular assignments contributing to evaluation they are moderately challenging if you keep up with the coursework. Areas for improvement include introducing more industry linked workshops, practical case studies and soft skills training. Enhanced use of interactive teaching methods and greater flexibility in Electives would make the programme even more elective for students career goals overall the curriculum is both rigorous and adaptable to current industry needs preparing students for a wider range of professional paths .

Internships Opportunities

5

Nit Jalandhar provides good internship opportunities through campus placements and any network top companies like Microsoft ,Infosys, Bpcl, Tata Power and Adani offer roles such as software development ,data analyst, research intern and core engineering internships often with stipends ranging from 10,000 to 80,000 per month depending on company and role. Many internships involve the live projects, product development, coding task, research analysis or technical documentation students build practical skills and professional network as outcomes. My internship experience was positive , Supportive mentors, impactful project and clear learning outcomes Though competition is tough and some roles are unpaid overall internship are a valuable stepping stone before final placement at Nit Jalander.

Placement Experience

5

Placements at Niteland are excellent with students becoming eligible in the 7th semester in 2025 the placement rate reached about 92% with over 1000 job offers made top recruiters included Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Bpcl, Adani ,Infosys ,Deloitte and Tata Power. The highest btech package touched 52 LPA while the average to around 8.10 lakh per annum core branches averaged 7 to 8 lpa and cs it averaged 13 to 14 lpa. About 86 to 92% of eligible Btech students were placed across all branches. My post degree plan is to pursue a tech role at a reputed firm leveraging campus placement but many also opt for higher studies or startups thanks to the campus strong industry connexions and preparation for competitive roles.

Fees and Financial Aid

For B.Tech at NIT Jalandhar the annual fee structure varies by category SC/ST/PWD and general/OBC Students with family income below 1,00,000 pay no tution free institutional charges around 51,000 to 56,000 yearly four hostelers covering registration exam development hostel medical alumni and other compulsory fees. These aspects balanced engaging campus experience that nurtures both professional and personal growth.

Hostel Facilities

5

I stay in boys hostel one inside the NITJalandhar campus. the hostel rooms are equipped with essential bed ,study table ,chair ,wardrobe and have adequate lighting And electrical outlets. Each floor has clean washrooms and water coolers while common rooms offer tv and indoor games for relaxation. The hostel mess serves a fixed vegetarian menu quality is average Some dishes are better than others with breakfast and dinner generally preferred over lunch.Registration for hostel is simple and part of the college admission process Making it affordable and convenient for first years overall the hostel provides a safe and sociable environment close to academic buildings and campus amenities. It also has computer rooms

Admission

I applied to several institutions including NIT Jalandhar, NIT Srinagar and UIET Hoshiarpur And Pec Chandigarh But choose NIT Jalandhar due to its robust placement record well recognised NIT brand and strong industry connections. NIT Jalandhar offers better infrastructure, facility expertise and peer environment compared to other options I had while I got confirmed admissions from uiet Hoshiarpur and nit Jalandhar my preference for a national level campus experience and comprehensive curriculum lead me here. My JEE main rank mit nit Jalandhar's cutoff whereas I couldn't qualify for top iits due to higher cut off the admission process is straightforward students must clear JEE main participate in Jossa counselling and meet annual cut offs .The eligibility is 75% in class 12th And a valid JEE main score. The process is transparent and mostly online making the overall experience manageable and fair.

Faculty

4

NIT Jalandhar offers a supportive academic environment with faculty mainly holding PHDs from reputed institutes the facility to student ratio average around 1:15 ensuring personal attention and mentorship professors like Professor Binod Kumar Kanaujia and several others are globally recognised for research excellence. Most faculty are approachable and motivate students through some are strict about attendance the course structure is updated with relevant topics and exams are conducted regularly. The evaluation uses a grading system from S to E with 40% as minimum passing marks clearing exams is achievable with regular effort and failure rates are low among sincere students. The curriculum emphasises academic rigour and industry relevance preparing students well for their careers

Night Life

3

Nightlife at NIT Jalandhar is relaxed and friendly for first year students hostel in time is 10:00 PM Ensuring safety .While from second year old water there is no strict end time allowing seniors more flexibility to enjoy late night campus life the library gym and cafeterias typically close by 9 to 10:00 PM but students often hang out at the central canteen, juice corner or NesCafe after classes. Off campus model town market giani tea stall are popular choices but most prefer the secure and vibrant campus environment at night group study sessions, gaming, walks and hostel gatherings help students unwind and build lasting friendships, Making college life memorable the locality around campus is generally safe but students are encouraged to return to hostel after hours for security.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
