The Department of Anatomy occupies most of the part of the ground floor of the college building of the Institute. Major activities are centered around research and teaching. It has all “state of the art” teaching facilities. The department is very enthusiastic in facilitating medical education with a well equipped dissection hail, a sprawling histology laboratory. The teaching faculty is known for student friendly methods of teaching. As essential for modern advanced medical teaching institutions, the anatomy department has a progressive museum exhibiting various types of anatomical and embryological specimens.

Activities like quizzes, annual fest, debates, stage shows and other recreational activities take place within the premises of the University. It helps the students to nurture their talents apart from their educational skills. Those who participate in the programmes also explore their own talents and some even destroys their stage phobias.

The course of MBBS is five and half years including one year of internship. The first year consists of one year teaching basic science subjects – Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-chemistry with some learning of Community Medicine.Second year consists of para-clinical subjects – Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine with Community Medicine. Third year is divided in two parts. Part I is of one year with subjects to be appear for exam are ophthalmology, ENT and Community Medicine. Part II is again of one year with subjects to be appear in exam are Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics.

The students, teachers and management actively take part in the activities that happens from time to time. A number of campaigns, morchas, etc. takes place in the University wherein the students are allowed to take part voluntarily in all the actions. Non-violence is a way to reach success and hence the same is followed during all the campaigns and morchas. The teachers and management makes sure of maintaining the decorum of the University as well.

The classrooms were quite large with a space of almost 300 students. Classes were well equipped with smart boards for smart study. Ducts (centralised AC) were also present in each lecture hall. The campus was Wi-Fi enabled.There was a clinic in the campus to ensure good health of the students. Sports facilities were also very good in the campus which includes all the indoor and outdoor games.

The placement records of our 2016 pass out batch were phenomenal. 96.6% students were placed in different companies. The highest package offered was 27 LPA and the lowest was 3.2 LPA. Almost 30 companies visited the college which included amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Sapient, Samsung, Zomato and many more. Students were offered jobs in different sections like technical as well as operation.

For sports, our college encourages sports persons and it conducts sports regularly. Our college participated in the university level cricket matches held in Delhi. The quality of food in the canteen is very good. I have not faced any infrastructure related issues in my college. The coding culture here is great with a lot of students involved in competitive programming. It provides a great learning environment for beginners who wish to get into the IT sector. The institute is growing at a very fast pace from a past few years

The faculty is our main strength. We have an excellent faculty who are student friendly and highly experienced. Most of them are PhD holders and still continuing their PhDs as a part-time excluding teaching. They are very helpful in projects and exams. They take part in every activity done by a student. We are always encouraged by our faculty and lead in a disciplined manner.

The university conducts seminars on technical and managerial topics where highly qualified and experienced people from industries give lectures. The workshops, industry visits, events, etc., are also helpful for those who want to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field. The university also supports various student organizations for social work events and technical projects. Conferences and guest lectures were very nice.

Placements for my senior batch have been good. Last year around 85% of students in CSE, IT, ECE departments were placed. This year placement has increased. This year companies for EN and ME department have also visited our college. In ME department, around 40% students have been placed this year and still counting. Highest package till date is around Rs. 20 lakhs and the average is around 4.5 lakhs.

Faculty members are qualified and well knowledgeable in their respective syllabus. Really helpful and cool faculty members. Methods of teaching are practical and theoretical, both. There are enough faculty members for each department. I didn't get any industry exposure. The faculty members are less in number but that is never a problem due to their helpful nature.

This course has helped to face the real world and the demands of corporate pressure simultaneously with studies even before I finished my post graduation. Believe me I would have been lost after completion of my course understanding how corporate world operates and works, but at GEC I was relieved from all those worries.

Free parking facility for cars as well as motorcycles, lift facilities for students. Centralized AC in classrooms as well as the lobby. Good quality of seats for students in the classrooms and a big round table conference hall for seminar and college placement. Good quality of food is available in canteen including tea, coffee and other refreshments. College canteen is almost like a restaurant.

Many companies visits every year for recruitment. This year, the placement started from September and Saint Gobain was the 1st company to visit the campus. Two students got selected there. About 60% students are already placed till January and still many companies are in the pipeline. The highest salary so far is 9.5 lac per year and the average is between 5-8 Lac per year.

I took JEE Main to get admission here. My AIR was 24330. I opted for this institute because there would be hardly any place in the world where you cannot find its alumnus. If you go to count its achievements, your lifetime is not enough for that task. It’s an institution which represents India. It’s an institution which can boast of its contributions for the better world. Who says that the statues and monuments don’t survive long? Give them the example of Howrah Bridge or Victoria Memorial. You might ask that why I mentioned these monuments, my reason is that they were built by its alumnus. You will feel wonder if you come to know that maximum number of institutions and communities are a generous contribution of IIEST SHIBPUR to the cause of better world. Forget about contributions to develop IITs and NITs, you will drop your jaw when you will come to know about its contribution to foreign universities. You will feel amazed to know that the dream of everyone who loves Space, NASA has also experienced the service of its alumni. I think that was enough of its achievements.

After my JEE rank was out, I was given an option to choose a date for my counselling. There was also a choice to choose a venue from a lists of number of institutes. At counselling, my mark sheets, medical certificate, identity proves were checked and finally I was given a provisional admission letter. I had to bring that letter along with me to the institute to carry on admission process here. At the campus Xerox copies of my documents were submitted and original migration certificate was taken. I also had to open an account in the UCO bank at a branch which is inside the campus.

The course i took up lines out all the details of the commerce and it is very easy to study the material as everything is so systematically arranged semester wise. Thus, providing an ease to completely understand the subject matter. Materials are easy to understand and there is an ease in studying the same.

Excellent campus life. 60-40 gender ration. Thw college has Various groups like cultural group, dance council, students council etc. The college has a majority of Hindu population with 90%. The students, however are very chilled out in terms of gender, ethnicity etc.

The model involves both internal assessment as well as written exam. The internal assignment will include projects, practical, assignments etc. Normally 30% is allocated to this section. The rest will be for the written exam. The exam pattern varies. The latest pattern used by many institutes has objective type questions, short answers and long answers.

I was admitted on the basis of Merit. The College follows the admission process of the Kerala State. Therefore there is a weightage for backward communities. Admission is purely on Merit for B.A., B.Com., B.B.A, B.Sc. and M.Sc., M.A. and M.Com. courses. For M.S.W. applicant has to write the Entrance examination conducted by the college. For M.B.A. applicant should attend either CAT, CMAT or KMAT. For M.Sc. Space Science and M.Sc. Medical Microbiology, M.Sc. Applied Fisheries and Aquaculture admission is based on merit and interview. An Industrial visit was organized at Wipro India, Chandigarh and Infosys Limited, Chandigarh on October, 03-04 2016, for semester Vth students of Computer Science Engineering discipline.
