Remarks

We cannot really differentiate between DFS and other private institution management the office bearers, faculties are really helpful the only shortcoming of DFS is that infrastructures sometimes we need to share the seminar room with other departments. The classrooms are Non A.C.But quality of education, guidance we get after bearing only twelve thousand per annum is really unmatched. There are people who leave IIMs and join DFS only to get value education. The writer here has left 6 IIMs (obviously not the older ones) to join DFS.

College Events

The student committee od DFS is known as AFCON (Association of Finance and Control) every year AFCON hosts three major events alumni meet in Bangalore, mumbai and Delhi chapter, annual Convention and ARVNEETI, the management fest convention event is an well known event where interaction, idea exchange happens with industry leaders arvneeti is having B.Plan contest,Cultural program.Apart from this we have mega fresher event and annual outbound team management tour in Himalayas.

Course Curriculum Overview

Objectives/Student Learning Outcomes- These should be specific, measurable, student-oriented, and related to the unit's mission.Ideally, the plan will include a variety of measures, including both qualitative and quantitative assessments. These measures should be well aligned with the objectives of the curriculum and it should be clear what type of performance would indicate that students are meeting the stated objectives.

Remarks

To summarize our college, remarks : the good are, college infrastructure, high skilled faculties, Bus transportation, class room benches, black board, systems the bad are, Lab facility, lab equipment's, placement , extra curricular activities, internship, implant training arrangement, lack of play ground area, cafeteria, college provided foods these are all the remarks about our college.

Hooghly Institute of Technology College (HIT), is a Government Poly technique institute. From students view, this is the best poly technique college of Hooghly. The faculties are very good and co-operative. The college management is very strict. There is a well maintained library. This library also has an adjacent study room. Library card is valid not only for the course duration, but also 1 year after passed out.

Placement Experience

From this college thousands after thousands students were placed. The companies like L & T, Ambuja, CTS ect came to campus. The companies are directly offered nothing primarily.

Campus Life

The campus life was okay as we were force to focus more on our studies and our submission. After we left the college and after the change of the managing staff the campus life has eased out. The gender ration was very poor as their are less girls opting for technical streams. The college was new but still they have good lab facilities and also have competition for robotics however we didn't have good facilities for sports and extra-curricular activities.

Exam Structure

The Exam schedule was very tight during those days as we have to give three internal exams and one university examination. Also, we need to be very punctual about our tutorial submissions, laboratory classes and laboratory files. And also we won't be allowed to sit in the canteen during our normal class hours.

And in the end there is a cultural night which includes dance performance from each house.

Campus Life

In our college girls are more then boys if we talk about the gender ratio second year students gives a fresher party to the new comers. We have workshop week every year in which we learn new things which are related to our field and will help us in future. Ragging is banned in our college. Seniors are not allowed to talk to juniors if they are not comfortable with it. We have elections in our college for posts like Cultural Secretary, General Secretary, Sports Secretary etc.

Campus Life

Overall, gender ratio was not bad in the perspective of engineering college(around 70 :30), with 70% male students. Campus life because of the curriculum as described above was chill. Also, as the college has this quota of 20% for all india students, the students at least in the hostel is from all parts of the country. Infact few of my very good friends are from different states than from MP, whom i met in college. In the name of extracurricular, no one do force, its all by choice. Being a university college, almost everything we can name was available and can be explored. College administration was student friendly, and had no issues with any specific conduct which happen to be amicable in all respect. I couldnt remember any incident within college, which shows any sign of violence with regard to caste, race, religion etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum was just okay. For the name and fame of the college and being an independent deemed college, the curriculum was much better than common RGPV university, but it still lacks the practicals. The subjects were properly identified , but not ungraded as per the up-gradation in the system. There is nothing like electives, and most of the subject to chose from are fixed. All the branches have almost similar curriculum for first 1 and half year. Rest 2 years was specific branch related course work, which was good, defined, but lacks the required up-gradation in the sense on ongoing world level research. Last one year is for Project, with few courses, but no one(no faculty and student) take this seriously.

Campus Life

Campus life is full of greenery. Best birthday celebrations from friends. It has an excellent culture with a gender ratio in diversity. the campus is full of trees, less polluted, you can have more labs, the excellent world-class library you can never get anywhere apart from IIT's, nits. The more competitions such as robotics, debates will be going inside the college. you can participate in your own wish. you can choose which path is really yours.

Faculty

The faculty is good but do not expect like from IIT's and NIT's every college have their own standard and capability to guide and educate the students. It depends on students thinking levels too the faculty can teach in their own passion that students should catch that point. Don't estimate their growth and standards and comments etc. That will not be better for student's growth. I felt the faculty is good in my point of view.

Faculty

Up to the mark. The faculty of Mechanical and Civil is the best in whole Gujarat I would definitely say because it has the faculty that has experience of more than 30 years. The faculty of Computer and other branches are also good. The faculty here is well experienced as this college is the first engineering college in the whole Gujarat.

Course Curriculum Overview

The college has received now autonomy and therefore it is an autonomous institute where each course is uniquely designed. The course is designed newly according to the latest technologies which is required in this competitive environment and is industrial based. Thus it is better and more practical related.

Faculty

Faculty were awesome as they had good industry experience also were able to explain their experience giving various major breakthrough in their carrier or problems. Such kind of teach helps EMBA students to evolve more & gives confidence to imply the learned experience in their jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course Curriculum was selective - based on majors. The common subjects were the one which were already covered in graduation & post graduations, so Executive MBA needs more deep understanding of each topics with use cases in corporate life. Also they had best professors to evaluate.

Exam Structure

Exams were pretty hectic, because we used to have tests every other week. Those marks played a role in our internal marks and hence preparing for them was equally important as having fun. Labs were not hectic. In fact, they were quite fun. Questions asked in the exams were sometimes quite tricky, but mostly, I managed a passing grade. The end semester exams, conducted by Anna University, were mostly predictable. Although the questions were predictable, our grades were unpredictable. Sometimes, for a subject we did really well, we will get a passing grade (or maybe even fail) but for a subject where we hardly gave a solid answer, we would get high grades. The correction was (is) one of the worst I had ever seen in my entire life. Correction of papers is done based on how huge a story you have written and how neatly you have written it. I was not much of a story teller, hence sometimes, I used to get passing grades. I was always to the point and couldn't change that till the end of my college life. (I still am to the point. That's why many answers here on this questionnaire are also short). So waiting for results after each semester was nerve wrecking and scary.

I choose this college via Anna University Counselling, based on my class 12th cutoff. I scored 190.5 and was able to bag a Computer Science and Engineering seat in this college. (Only one seat was remaining and I was the one who took it). I had written BITSAT and AIEEE and got a score as well. But unfortunately, it wasn't sufficient to get into Bits Pilani or any of the NIT's. (If you are wondering, I didn't write the JEE. AIEEE itself was daunting task for me, JEE was out of the question). Apart from these big shot exams, I had written SRMEEE and Entrance Exam for Amritha College of Engineering as well. I had cleared SRMEEE (luckily) and was called for counselling. I went there only to find seat for ECE in SRM Vadapalani campus. For the uninitiated, the SRM Vadapalani campus was newly constructed and did not even have proper lab facilities at that time. With a jaw dropping fee of more than 1.5 lakhs per annum, I decided to walk out of there. There was no point wasting money. After some chides from relatives, I sat waiting for my class 12th results to come and choose the obvious choice left, Anna University Counselling.

Remarks

The college management was the worst part in this entire college experience, none of the students liked the management and there were always disagreement, I would say the management was fascist. There was also a strike conducted by the students in 2005 as the management had thrown out the college principal and students fed up with the management over mediocre facilities, We never had a college principal in the first 2 years of college and then we get a great man named Basavaraj which the management throws him for being student centric.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was pretty well defined, it was a 8 semester course where the first 2 semesters are common across all the branches the next 4 semester would focus on your core subjects of your specialization and the last 2 semesters will focus on project work and electives. Each semester has 6 theory subjects and 2 practicals, except the last semester where you have 4 subjects and project work.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum was excellent first semester was basics of commerce, economics, statics studied in B com and BBA to get knowledge for engineering and science student who opted MBA post UG there was separate account class was conducted for engineering and science student to get familiar account subject. Many of the class we need to prepare PPT and make presentation which was very helpful to improve our skills. Since it was autonomous whole curriculum was good and not too pressurizing when compared to engineering college MBA course.

Internships Opportunities

Yes like all competitive college our college was also providing internship. Stipend is based on the field you choose. If you choose marketing as a major and do internship in marketing you will get stipend like our batch mate got. Or if you choose big company in finance you will not get stipend but might get opportunity for job in you do well your internship we had 2 compulsory internship and many other was offered according to student wish.

Campus Life

We have a social group ,sport group and many other groups. Students from many part of states are coming for admission at college. So, its like a mini India at the college. We have one NGO established by our college students(specially or mainly 80% funded from our students itself) to establish a school and help impart poor students good basic education nearby our college, where by our dedicated college student volunteers go and teach there after our clases or at free time.

Placement Experience

Placement varies from year to year. I am giving one example. For our senior batch 2010 pass out,ECE PLACEMENT was 50% (provided ,number counting for only those who are eligible to sit for placement). FOR our batch ,ECE PLACEMENT was 60- 65 %. Civil and Mechanical was higher. EE was a bit low. Anyway, college try to arrange at least 2-3 companies per students for eligible students.Average salary was 20,000pm.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course structure was very primitive, academic was theoretical and had no relation to applicability in the present scenario. Few subjects and topics were useful and in context to present times. Subjects such as machinrs, facts, power engineering, power electronics are found useful in my present role and work environment, others were basic and not used so far.

Admission

Admissions where centralized through VJTI, based on my score I got allotment in free seat category for construction engineering in KNSP PEN since the location was far off I cancelled the admission and went for readmission in 5th round which was held in Sardar Vallabhai Patel college of engineering, here I got option of electrical engineering in acpatil.

Placement Experience

A lot of companies offer jobs in college. Reliance Industries limited, TCS, Tata Chemicals, Indian Navy, Wipro, ESSAR, etc. Comes every year and do the placements. Package ranging from 2 lacs to 6 lacs per annum is offered by different companies. Institute is really supportive and TPO is quite active to get more companies.

Admission

Admission process includes filling and Online Form. Then there is choice filling of colleges coming under GTU. After that based on score you get admission in College. The score is aggregate of 12th Science Score and GUJCET. Form notification comes just after 12th results are declared. Admission process is pretty smooth.
