IGNOU CEVMT FAQs

Ques. Is the CEVMT certificate from IGNOU valid for jobs in the event management industry?

Ans. Yes, the CEVMT certificate from IGNOU is recognised by all member institutions of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is accepted by employers in the event management, hospitality, and tourism sectors. However, for senior roles, employers typically prefer candidates with a diploma or degree-level qualification in event management.

Ques. Can I pursue CEVMT along with a full-time job or another degree programme?

Ans. Absolutely. Since CEVMT is a distance learning programme, there are no fixed class timings or mandatory attendance requirements. You can study at your own pace using the provided study materials and appear for term-end examinations as per the IGNOU exam schedule. Many students pursue it alongside their regular jobs or other academic programmes.

Ques. What is the difference between CEVMT (Certificate) and DEVMT (Diploma) in Event Management at IGNOU?

Ans. CEVMT is a 6-month certificate programme with a fee of Rs. 4,000, while DEVMT is a 1-year diploma programme with a higher fee (approximately Rs. 8,000). DEVMT covers more advanced topics and is better suited for those seeking a more comprehensive qualification. CEVMT is ideal as an entry-level or introductory course.

Ques. How are examinations conducted for CEVMT at IGNOU?

Ans. IGNOU conducts Term-End Examinations (TEE) twice a year - in June and December. Students must fill the exam form and pay the examination fee (approximately Rs. 200 per course) before the deadline. Exams are held at designated IGNOU exam centres across India. Students must also submit assignments as part of the internal assessment.

Ques. Is there any practical or project component in the CEVMT programme?

Ans. Yes, the CEVMT curriculum includes a project component (BHCP-012: Project in Event Design) along with theory courses. Students are required to complete and submit this project as part of their programme requirements.

Ques. What happens if I am unable to complete the CEVMT programme within 6 months?

Ans. IGNOU allows students a maximum of 2 years to complete the CEVMT programme. If you are unable to clear all exams within the minimum duration of 6 months, you can appear in subsequent Term-End Examinations within the 2-year window without re-enrolling. After 2 years, re-admission may be required.
