IGNOU PGDAPP FAQs

Ques. I have no prior experience in radio or audio production. Can I still apply for PGDAPP?

Ans. Yes, the eligibility is a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with no prior experience required. The programme starts from the basics of broadcasting and programming (MJM 1) and progressively builds skills in production, recording, and editing. The large practical component (MJML 1) ensures you gain hands-on experience during the programme itself.

Ques. How are the practical sessions (MJML 1) conducted in PGDAPP? Do I need to visit the study centre?

Ans. Yes, the practical component (MJML 1) of 16 credits requires you to attend practical sessions at your assigned study centre. These sessions are conducted at study centres equipped with audio production studios. It is very important to choose a study centre that is geographically convenient for you, as you will need to attend these sessions regularly.

Ques. Is PGDAPP useful for getting a job at All India Radio (AIR) or private FM stations?

Ans. Yes, PGDAPP is specifically designed to prepare professionals for radio broadcasting. The programme covers skills directly relevant to AIR, private FM stations, community radio, and online audio production. Many PGDAPP graduates have gone on to work in Prasar Bharati, private radio stations, and audio production houses. The IGNOU diploma is a recognised qualification for such roles.

Ques. Can I pursue PGDAPP if I am already working at a radio station?

Ans. Yes, PGDAPP is specifically designed for professionals already working in Prasar Bharati and private production houses who want to acquire theoretical knowledge and upgrade their skills. The ODL mode allows you to study while continuing your job, with practical sessions scheduled at your study centre.

Ques. Is PGDAPP available in Hindi medium?

Ans. Yes, PGDAPP is offered in both English and Hindi mediums. You can choose your preferred medium at the time of admission and write your assignments and term-end examinations in either language.

Ques. What are the career prospects after completing PGDAPP?

Ans. Graduates can work as radio programmers, presenters, producers, audio editors, and station managers in All India Radio, private FM stations, community radio stations, online audio platforms, and audio production houses.
