About GPAT
GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance examination for candidates seeking admission to M.Pharm programmes across India. It is also the gateway to the AICTE Scholarship for GPAT Qualifiers (₹12,400/month for the duration of the M.Pharm programme). Historically administered by NTA, GPAT was transferred to NBEMS from 2025 onwards. NBEMS conducts the test as a single-shift computer-based test (CBT) at centres across India.
GPAT 2027 Registration
Based on the 2026 cycle, here is what candidates should expect for GPAT 2027 registration:
- Portal: natboard.edu.in (NBEMS official website)
- Expected opening: Last week of December 2026
- Expected closing: Second week of January 2027
- Application fee (2026 reference): ₹2,200 (General/OBC/EWS) · ₹1,200 (SC/ST/PwD)
- Mode of payment: Online (Debit/Credit card, Net Banking, UPI)
In 2026, NBEMS allowed a short correction window (approximately 3–4 days after the closing date) to fix errors in the submitted form. A similar window is expected in 2027.
GPAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility rules have remained stable across recent cycles. Candidates must meet all of the following:
- Degree: B.Pharm (4-year programme) from an AICTE/PCI-approved institution
- Final year appearing: Candidates in the final year of B.Pharm are eligible to apply (result must be submitted before admission)
- Minimum marks: No minimum aggregate prescribed by NBEMS; individual universities may set a cutoff for M.Pharm admission
- Nationality: Indian citizens; NRI/PIO/OCI candidates should check individual institution norms
- Age limit: No upper age limit prescribed
GPAT 2027 Exam Pattern
The exam pattern has been consistent since NBEMS took over. Expect the following for 2027:

GPAT 2027 Syllabus: Key Subjects
The GPAT syllabus covers the entire B.Pharm curriculum. The major subject areas (weightage approximate) are:
- Pharmaceutics — drug delivery systems, dosage form design, biopharmaceutics
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry — medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, organic chemistry
- Pharmacology — pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology
- Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry — natural drug sources, plant constituents
- Biochemistry & Microbiology — enzymes, metabolic pathways, microbial diseases
- Anatomy, Physiology & Pathophysiology
- Biotechnology — recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies
GPAT 2027 Admit Card
The admit card is released approximately 5–7 days before the exam on the NBEMS portal. In 2026, the admit card was available from March 2, 2026 (five days before the March 7 exam). For 2027, candidates should expect the admit card in late February / early March 2027.
To download the admit card, candidates need their NBEMS registration number and date of birth. The admit card is the only entry document; no hard copy is sent by post. Check all printed details — name spelling, exam centre, photograph — and report errors to NBEMS immediately.
GPAT 2027 Answer Key & Result
NBEMS releases a provisional answer key within 5–7 days of the exam, followed by a challenge window (fee-based) where candidates can dispute any answer. After evaluating challenges, NBEMS publishes the final answer key alongside the official result.
- Provisional answer key (2026): March 13, 2026 — ~1 week post exam
- Result (2026): April 7, 2026 — ~1 month post exam
- GPAT Score validity: 3 years from the date of result declaration
The scorecard includes the candidate’s subject-wise score, total score, percentile, and All India Rank (AIR). Qualifying candidates can use the scorecard for M.Pharm admissions and for the AICTE GPAT scholarship.
GPAT 2027 Counselling
GPAT does not have a centralised counselling process. Qualifying candidates must apply individually to each institution offering M.Pharm. Most universities — including NITs (via CCMT), IITs, and state university affiliates — accept GPAT scores and conduct their own merit-based admission rounds from May to July. Check your target institution’s admission calendar once the GPAT 2027 result is declared.
AICTE Scholarship for GPAT Qualifiers
Candidates who qualify GPAT are eligible to apply for the AICTE Postgraduate Scholarship:
- Stipend: ₹12,400 per month
- Duration: Full M.Pharm programme (24 months)
- Eligibility: GPAT qualified + admission to AICTE-approved M.Pharm programme + no other scholarship / fellowship
- Application: Through the AICTE portal after securing M.Pharm admission
