Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Atmospheric Sciences is a 4-year undergraduate engineering course which aims to explore the atmosphere’s physical characteristics, motions and processes, and how these influence aspects of the environment and human life. This course is for students interested the earth’s atmosphere, its processes, and the effects other systems have on the atmosphere. Also known as Aerology, this course deals with a detailed study of the earth’s atmosphere.
The technical program involves various areas of study which can be categorized into Meteorology (atmospheric chemistry and atmospheric physics), Climatology (atmospheric changes), Aeronomy (upper layers of the atmosphere).
Admission of eligible candidates is done through the all India level JEE Main examination or State/university level entrance tests followed by counselling of the shortlisted aspirants. Some universities also conduct aptitude tests and interview rounds for selecting candidates.

The duration of B.Tech Atmospheric Sciences course is 4 academic years, split into eight semesters, with two semesters in each academic year.
The prerequisite for getting admission into B.Tech Atmospheric Sciences is having cleared 10+2 or HSC examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry with at least 50% marks (60% in case of IIT) from any recognized Indian educational Board. Eligible candidates can appear for the national or State- level entrance examinations conducted by various public and private institutions offering the course. All candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) get a relaxation of 5% in the aggregate score.
Admission to B.Tech in Atmospheric Sciences is done through entrance examinations (State level or national level) conducted either by the university or by national level entrance examinations such as JEE. Some colleges also provide the option of direct admission via the Board Merit list considering the marks obtained in Class XII which should be at least 80% in aggregate. Students have to go through the counselling once they have successfully cleared either of the below mentioned entrance examination.
