- Lencho was a straightforward man in reality. After his crops were destroyed, he composed a letter to God, hoping to seek financial help of 100 pesos to begin harvesting again. He wanted to save his family from utter starvation.
- After composing the letter, he dropped it in the mailbox without an address. Upon receiving the letter, the postmaster was keenly moved and decided to help the poor man.
- The postmaster contributed and also collected a decent amount of money from his colleagues to stash in the envelope. However, they could jointly collect a little over 50 pesos by the time.
- When Lencho visited the post office to retrieve his envelope, the employees handed him over his belongings.
- But, soon after he opened the envelope, he found 70 pesos, criticizing the post-office employees for stealing the remaining 30 pesos. He composed a letter in return, expressing his disappointment.
- He urged God to send the remaining amount, but not via mail this time because, according to him, the post-office employees stole his money earlier.
