BIT MCA 2019 Counselling

The Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, (BIT) Ranchi annually conducts the entrance test to its full-time, regular Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course in an online computer based mode. BIT MCA is one of the most competitive and sought after exam in the country.

The entrance is conducted to test the students on various counts and thereby to ascertain their mathematical aptitude, computer knowledge and awareness, reasoning and English language proficiency.

The online forms for admission commenced from March 1, 2019 till April 30, 2019 which is the last date for the submission of the application forms.

The BIT MCA entrance will be held on June 2 at Mesra, Ranchi and its extension centres at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur and Noida to short list candidates for its prestigious three-year (six semesters) programme.

BIT MCA 2019 Result

The results for the BITMCA entrance test has been declared on June 15, 2019  after which will begin the selection procedure. The results of the candidates are available on the official website, where they can check their result by entering their enrolment number.

The candidates are advised to enter their details very carefully and correctly for accessing their result. Once the result is accessed, the candidates should check the personal information mentioned on the same in case of any technical error or glitch.

Candidates are also advised to save their results and print out two-three copies of the same for its use in the admission process in future.

BIT MCA 2019 Counselling Process

The process of counselling begins shortly after the declaration of result for the candidates. Based on the choices filled in by the them in their application forms, a list for the same for each centre will be notified on the official website ( and will be updated regularly.

Each BIT Mesra centre will shortlist candidates for the counselling based on their performance in the BITMCA entrance test, provided they have applied to the same centre and fulfil the desired eligibility criteria.

Thus, the counselling schedules for each BIT Mesra centre, based on the scores will be displayed by the third week of June on the official website of the institute, the notice board at the institute and the concerned extension centres only. It is important to note that no separate intimation will be sent to the students and they should stay updated by way of regularly checking the website of the institute.

BIT MCA 2019 Selection Procedure

 The provisional selection of prospective candidates will be made based on the marks obtained by him/her in the BITMCA Entrance test. The first provisional selection list along with the complete merit list will be declared on June 15, 2019.

Also, candidates called for document verification will be offered admission only if they meet the other eligibility criteria as set by the institute.

The wait-listed candidates can also be called for document verification and the admission process against the vacant seats, if any. The same shall be intimated on the institution website as web notification. Candidates will not be intimated individually for the same. Thus, they should stay updated by way of regularly checking the website of the institute.

Candidates offered provisional admission who are still appearing for their final examination in 2019 are also eligible to apply and will be required to sign an undertaking at the time of the admission on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of 20 INR to the effect that if they fail to obtain the required marks in their qualifying examination for graduation, their admission shall stand cancelled.

The last date for the submission of the mark sheet/degree certificate is 31st October 2019, failing which they shall lose the seat allotted provisionally allotted to him/her.

BIT MCA 2019 Cancellation of Admission 

 A candidate’s admission shall stand cancelled in the following scenarios:

  • If any information filled in by the candidate is found to be incorrect/misleading
  • Who fail to submit the final degree/qualifying examination in the given time period
  • Who fail to secure minimum marks to meet the eligibility criteria in the degree/qualifying examination

BIT MCA 2019 Seat Allotment

Given below in the table is a list of the various BIT institutes offering the MCA course and the seats offered by each institute for the same.


BIT MCA 2019 Reservation

The reservation policy followed by the institute is explained below:

  • For any of the programmes offered by the institute that are supported by any of the concerned State Government, the reservation criteria for the state quota is followed as per the norms of the respective State Government.
  • In case of programmes not supported by the State Government, the reservation criteria followed is as per the policy of the Central Government- Scheduled Caste (SC)- 15%, Scheduled Tribe (ST)- 7.5%
  • The institute offers a reservation quota of three percent for Persons with Disability (PwD)
  • Upto six percent of the seats are reserved at its Extension centres who are the children of the serving employees of BIT, who have otherwise qualified for the admission.
  • Upto one seat is reserved at all the centres for candidates who are children of Kashmiri migrants who have otherwise qualified fir the admission.
  • Fifty percent of the total seats are reserved at all the centres for candidates who have passed or are appearing for the qualifying examination (the graduation exam in this case) from the state in which the centre is located.( Here the state of eligibility of the candidatefor the purpose will be determined on the basis of the location of his/her college of graduation)

An important thing to note is that in case seats from a particular group remain vacant due to lack of suitable candidates, the institute in this case reserves the right to fill the same from another group.

BIT MCA 2019 Documents Required During Admission Process

Listed below is the list of documents required during the admission process

  • Recent passport size photo
  • 10th pass certificate (as proof of age)
  • Mark sheet of class X
  • Mark sheet of class XII or equivalent
  • Graduation mark sheet (in case graduation is completed)
  • Mark sheets of upto the pre-final year for the candidates graduating in 2019. The candidate in this case, is required to submit a certificate from the Principal of his/her college of graduation stating that
  1. by June 30, 2019, the said candidate will have appeared for examination in all the subjects mandatory for attaining his/her Graduation degree.
  2. The candidate has till yet obtained the requisite marks or equivalent based on the latest available grades or marks, whichever applicable.
  • Candidates with their qualifications acquired through the correspondence or the distance learning programmes are required to carry a proof of pass certificate in addition to their mark sheet of graduation.
  • Admit card of the MCA 2019 online test.
  • Score card of the MCA 2019 online test.
  • Caste certificate (if applicable) in proper format and signed by the appropriate authority of rank not less than SDO
  • Candidates belonging to other special categories of reservation as mentioned in Sec 7 like PwD/Kashmiri migrant/children of BITemployees are required to provide a photocopy of the certificate from the appropriate authority.
  • Photo identification (like driving license, passport, PAN card, Voter ID to name a few)
  • A print out of the online filled application form.

Along with all the documents listed above, candidates are required to carry a set of photocopy of the same.

If the candidate gets a provisional admission, he/she will be required to submit all the documents in original (except the photo ID) at the time of admission along with the required fee.

BIT MCA 2019 Fee Structure

Given below is the one-time fee amount of 25,000 INR to be paid during the time of admission with the break-up of the same given below:

  1. Admission fee- 15,000 INR
  2. Caution money- 10,000 INR

Hostel Caution Money (one-time only, refundable) and Hostel Mess Advance (for each semester) are to be paid by a crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of the BIT Hotel Mess Account, payable at Ranchi, for BIT Mesra only.

All other fees should be paid by a crossed DD drawn in favour of Birla Institute of Technology payable at-

  1. Ranchi for admission at Mesra or Lalpur
  2. Jaipur for admission at Jaipur
  3. Noida for admission at Noida
