Minerals are naturally occurring substances that are extracted and are known as such because of their inorganic chemical characteristics. These inorganic chemical compounds can be easily found in three different states of matter in nature. Those are - solids, liquids, and gaseous. Minerals are not properly distributed over nature. They are mostly found concentrated in a particular area or they get accumulated at one particular region to turn into solid rock structures. Some minerals are available in areas which are not easily attained such as the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean bed.

Energy Minerals
The energy minerals are a type of fossil fuels. Energy minerals are the ones that provide energy. Few examples of energy minerals are petroleum, natural gas, coal, etc. Earth is surrounded with various mineral hotspots located in various geographical demographics. Metallic Minerals
Minerals containing metals inside them are known as metallic minerals. The extraction process of these minerals can give out metals. It involves extensive processes, and these metallic minerals are in higher demand in their applications. Some examples of metallic minerals are bauxite, Iron ore, etc. The metallic minerals are again differentiated into two subtypes. They are-
- Ferrous Minerals: If the metallic minerals contain any ironic substance within them, they are called ferrous minerals.
- Non-Ferrous Minerals: If the metallic mineral does not contain any ironic substance, but rather might contain gold, silver or some kind of metals, then they are known to be non-ferrous minerals.
