DU LLB 2019 Syllabus, Important Topics, Books

DU LLB Entrance Exam is a university level examination conducted to offer admissions into Law courses. The Faculty of Law, Delhi University holds the law entrance exam each year in offline mode. The conducting body will notify the official exam pattern and DU LLB syllabus shortly.

The application form for DU LLB 2019 will start in the last week of April 2019. DU LLB Exam will be held in late June 2019. There are 100 objective type questions to be completed in 2 hours duration. Check DU LLB Exam Pattern

Highlights of DU LLB Exam Pattern

The University of Delhi changed its exam pattern for the Bachelors of Law offered by the Faculty of Law and reduced the number of question from 175 to 100. It is expected that the Faculty of Law would use last year’s exam pattern in the upcoming test.

DU LLB 2019 Syllabus

The test comprises of English Language Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reasoning and Analytical Abilities, Legal Awareness and Aptitude. The topics mentioned are mostly of 10+2 level and the preparation should be based on the same. The section wise syllabus of DU LLB 2019:

Part 1 of DU LLB Syllabus

This part of the question paper is divided into four sub-sections of English language, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning Ability. Sub Sections and their Topics

Important tips to prepare for Part 1:

  • Brush up the basics of grammar to tackle the error detection questions and sentence correction.
  • Read Newspaper daily or watch the news to stay up to date with the affair of the country and the world.
  • Solve puzzles, Sudoku, riddles, etc. to get a hang of the Reasoning section.
  • Read books and online general awareness forums for static general knowledge.
  • For Mathematics, practice as many mock tests as possible.

Part 2: Aptitude and Legal Awareness

This section evaluates a candidate’s knowledge in the legal field. Aspirants must focus on the topics given below as they carry more weightage in the exam.

  • Vicarious Liability
  • Strict Liability
  • Law of Crimes
  • Contracts and Constitutional Law
  • International Law
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Awareness of current legal events
  • Questions based on reasoning and principle
  • Powers and functions of Executive, Judiciary and Legislature of India
Note: Indian Constitution, its structure, sections and schedules and Legal Awareness covering Constitutional Law and Polity were dropped from last year’s paper. Confirmation of the inclusion or exclusion of these topics will be updates as soon as DU releases the official notification.

Important tips to prepare for Part 2

  • No assumptions should be made.
  • The Principle is always right.
  • Strict Application of the principle to a given fact
  • Always pick the option that is closest to the principle.
  • This section requires speed and time management, especially the principle fact questions.
  • The legal fact and legal G.K questions can be attempted well by identifying and memorising important constitutional articles, landmark and recent judgments and new laws/amendments.
