My Three Passions Summary

  • Russell talks about his three passions. The three passions he aspired were love, knowledge, and pity for the suffering of human life.
  • Russell starts the discussion with the desire for love. He says, with love he can abolish loneliness and overcome the sufferings of life. He believes love brings bliss in life and for that bliss, he can sacrifice his life. He says in love he has seen the heaven that saints and poets imagine.
  • He next talks about knowledge. He was a seeker of knowledge. Russell has always been eager to gain more knowledge about things he didn’t know. He was curious to learn about Pythagorean power. 
  • Well, following his desire for love and knowledge which took him to heaven, pity brought him back to the real world. In the end, he says he gets another chance to live this life, he would love to live. All the sorrow of children in famine, victims, and helpless old people brought him to the real world.
