We’re Not Afraid to Die… if We Can All Be Together Summary

In this story, the reader gets to know about the difficulties one has to face and overcome while on a voyage. In July 1976, the narrator of this story, Gordon Cook, and his family with the ship crews started their voyage on the South Indian Ocean. They followed the routes of Captain James Cook 200 years back.

• At the beginning of the journey, the readers get to know about the details of the voyage. Till Cape Town, the journey was a pleasant one.
• In the next part of the journey, the narrator and his family with the crew members faced dangerous high tides due to the windstorms.
• They spend Christmas eve and New Year’s Eve on the ship. On 2nd January, the ship faced the worst situation where the wave walker and the narrator got severely injured. Despite that, the narrator decided to face the situation bravely.
• Even after his whole family was injured, the narrator, with the help of his family was able to make the ship secure and informed Amsterdam for help. 
• This story is all about how they finally survived the journey.
