Propane is a gas consisting of 3 atoms of carbon and 8 atoms of hydrogen, which is why it can be called clean. It is naturally compressed, and is also called LPG, which is also the same gas that is used in vehicles. When found in rocks, it is in combination with the other gases, but is isolated through oil refining and is separated from the uncompressed natural gas through refrigeration. Through extraction, from heated crude oil, using a distillation tower.

Chemical Preparation of Propane

The chemical formula of propane is CH3 - CH2 - CH3. The way it is prepared by chemists is they catalyse propyne, whose chemical formula is CH3 - C --- C - H and add 2 dihydrogen atoms to it, which activates the hydrogen bond, and add platinum, palladium or nickel to it. This process is called hydrogenation. If it is processed from natural gas, it is removed from butane, and even ethane. It is one of the best ways to produce propane, since the most propane is produced from this method.

The National Green Tribunal in India, which seeks to make India a greener and more clean country, has prepared several reports on the use of propane. In India, it mainly comprises of Liquified Processed Gas, along with butane, which is used for:

• Hospitality - As a part of LPG, it can provide the hospitality with safety, and can replace electric stoves, since it's a cleaner fuel.
• Space heating - When we say space heating, we literally mean that propane can reach spaces which your electric heater cannot. It will heat it faster and more efficiently, at a much lower cost.
• Cutting - This is in the context of cutting and welding, and propane can be used for a cutting torch, which is used to connect two wires together.
• Heaters - If your heater runs on propane, you're reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50%, since propane is a clean fuel
• Petrochemical purposes - It can be used for ethylene production, so it is kept in handy to prepare ethylene, as well as plastics
• Further synthesizing - Further studies can prove that propane can be used for other purposes as well
