MCA Colleges in Ahmedabad 2026: Fees, Admissions, Placements, Rankings, Cutoff

Ans. On cost, Ahmedabad makes the strongest case of any city in this series. Gujarat University charges 6,280 and L.D. College of Engineering 10,750 for the full degree, and six of the 21 colleges charge under 1 Lakh. On evidence of outcomes it is thin but not silent: one college of 21 publishes a real MCA placement record, Nirma at a 4.82 LPA average for its 2025 batch, and one has ever been ranked for Computer Applications. For the other nineteen a candidate is choosing on fee, CMAT selectivity and rated reviews.

Ans. JG University, which closed at an ACPC rank of 22,758 on a CMAT score of 0.27 in the last published release. L.J. Institute of Computer Applications follows at 22,702 on 1.17 and R B Institute at 22,569 on 3.27. At the other end Nirma closed at rank 20,107 on a CMAT score of 86.14. The ranks look close because they span only 2,651 places, but the CMAT scores behind them run from 86 to under 1, so the real gap is enormous.

Ans. Yes, but only at three colleges. Every ACPC seat in Gujarat is allotted on a CMAT score, so the great majority of Ahmedabad MCA seats require it. The exceptions are Indus University, which admits on merit determined by its own committee through online registration or a walk-in with an interaction; Gujarat Vidyapith, which runs its own application form; and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, whose MCA is a distance programme admitted directly.

Ans. The listed range is 6,280 to 4.17 Lakh, the widest in this series – though the two government figures look like annual rather than full-course fees, which would put the real low end nearer 13,000. Six colleges charge under 1 Lakh, twelve sit between 1 Lakh and 2 Lakh, and only three charge more. Collegedunia’s figures are mostly the state fee regulator’s annual number doubled, and several do not reconcile – 1,53,300 appears on three different colleges, L.J. Institute of Management Studies’ 90,300 is an annual figure, and Rai University’s 1,25,600 is R B Institute’s fee doubled.

Ans. Three on the listing: Gujarat University at 6,280, L.D. College of Engineering at 10,750 and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University at 50,000, the last being a distance programme. A fourth, Government MCA College, Maninagar (East), is in the state’s official MCA register with 60 seats, a fee of 3,500 for boys and free admission for girls, and a closing rank of 20,586 – but it does not appear on the Collegedunia listing at all. Note that Mahadev Desai Samajseva Mahavidyalaya is tagged Government on the listing and is neither government nor an MCA provider.

Ans. It is the cheapest MCA in this entire series at 6,280 for the full course, run at the Rollwala Computer Centre under its Department of Computer Science, and it carries 1,366 rated reviews – the largest evidence base in the city – at 3.8. For a candidate weighing cost against risk, it is hard to beat.

Two constraints. The intake is 30 seats, and the university has no published ACPC closing rank, so there is no way to judge in advance how hard those seats are to reach. And like every other college in the city, it publishes no MCA placement figure.

Ans. One mock round and two allotment rounds, which is fewer than most states. For 2026-27 the mock ran 9 to 12 July, Round 1 allotment fell on 21 July and Round 2 on 28 July, with vacancy display on 31 July. Degree Engineering in Gujarat gets a third round; MBA and MCA do not. The schedule is published as provisional and dependent on AICTE approvals, and Round 1 choice filling was already extended once in 2026.

Ans. No. Gujarat runs a single statewide merit list ranked on CMAT, and a candidate from any district competes on the same list for any institute in the state. The only geographic split is a domicile one: 95% of seats at government, grant-in-aid and unaided institutions go to candidates who passed both their qualifying examination and Std. XII or a diploma in Gujarat, and 5% at government and grant-in-aid institutions only go to candidates who qualified elsewhere in India. That 5% does not extend to the private unaided colleges.

Ans. Neither a percentile nor a mark. ACPC publishes two figures side by side – an ACPC closing rank on the statewide MCA merit list, and a CMAT closing score. The CMAT score is a raw scaled score, not a percentile, which matters because a figure like 86.14 is not an 86th percentile. Collegedunia’s cutoff pages for these colleges mix exams together and omit the MCA rows at several of them, so the committee’s own release is the one to use.

Ans. Only Rai University, and only as tracks within one degree. Rai’s own admission manual lists a single Master of Computer Applications carrying two specialisations – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Cyber Security. The other twenty Ahmedabad colleges teach the general MCA with no named track. Data science is not available anywhere in the city as an MCA specialisation. For comparison, Pune lists 27 specialisation programmes across nine colleges and Delhi NCR seven named tracks.

Ans. Five because no official source shows an MCA, and eight because they duplicate another entry on the same page.

Ans. The two-year MCA is the current national structure, open to graduates of any three-year degree. Ahmedabad has only one three-year MCA, at L.J. Institute of Management Studies; the other 20 colleges teach the two-year version. The degree is the same, and the three-year route usually carries a first year of bridging computer-science content. Note that Gujarat does not require Mathematics for entry – candidates without it take a compulsory bridge course instead.

Ans. Ahmedabad sits at the centre of a dense cluster. Gandhinagar has ten MCA colleges just 30 km away, Nadiad two at 58 km, Anand five at 73 km and Mehsana six at 74 km – so 57 colleges sit inside 75 km of the city centre. Vadodara adds eleven at 110 km, Rajkot eight at 215 km and Surat ten at 269 km. Because Gujarat has no home-university zone, a candidate can fill choices across all of them on the same merit list with no geographic penalty.

Ans. Not to sit CMAT, which is a national test. Domicile decides which seat pool you compete in. 95% of seats at government, grant-in-aid and unaided institutions are reserved for candidates who passed both their qualifying examination and Std. XII or a diploma at institutions in Gujarat. Candidates who qualified elsewhere compete for 5% of the seats at government and grant-in-aid institutions only – which means the private colleges are effectively closed to them through ACPC. Indus University, Gujarat Vidyapith and the open university admit outside the committee and apply no such split.

Ans. Nirma University, and it is the only one that can be answered at all. Nirma publishes an MCA average of 4.82 LPA and a highest of 12.25 LPA for its 2025 passout batch, with more than 60 companies visiting for MCA placements. That gives an ROI of 115.59% against its 4.17 Lakh fee.

Note that this is far below what the listing claims for Nirma – 11.21 LPA average and 21.35 LPA highest, which appear in no Nirma publication. For every other college the figures fail outright: Silver Oak’s 5.00 and 20.00 LPA are its whole-university numbers covering four institutions, and Indus’s 30.00 LPA comes from a meta description rather than a placement record. L.D. College of Engineering publishes MCA offer counts – 49 across five years to 2025 – and its students rate placements 4.3, the highest in the city.
