IIT Delhi's Venture into Abu Dhabi Opens Up Fresh Prospects for Employment in the UAE; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The famed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has just relocated to the centre of Abu Dhabi thanks to a partnership between the Indian Ministry of Education and the Department of Education and Knowledge, Abu Dhabi (ADEK), United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This action aims to give Indian and Emirati students in Abu Dhabi access to top-notch educational opportunities, boosting cross-cultural understanding and academic performance.

Courses on Offer

IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi is a campus that focuses on research and offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees.

These courses will cover a range of topics, including artificial intelligence, healthcare, maths, computer science, and more. They will also cover energy and sustainability.

By giving students the necessary skills for the job market, the university hopes to assist important industries in the United Arab Emirates.

When Do Classes Begin?

The master's programs at IIT Delhi's Abu Dhabi campus will start in January 2024, and the bachelor's programs will start in September of that same year.

A Vision of Collaboration

In the area of foreign education and academic cooperation, the MoU that was signed in the middle of July represents a significant turning point.

According to Dr. Ahmed Sultan Al Shoaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Higher Education Sector, ADEK, in an interview with India Today, "Our most recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which prioritises investments in education, innovation, knowledge transfer, and people, strengthens the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and the United Arab Emirates."

The Ministry of Education chose IIT Delhi for this critical project, demonstrating its dedication to advancing both research and education.

“The key to our future success and a contributor to long-term economic growth and sustainable development will be to improve Abu Dhabi's higher education environment to better connect it with the country's national development priorities and objectives,” he adds.

Dr. Shoaibi emphasised that this partnership between India and the UAE will greatly advance both nations' educational systems. It will accomplish this through interdisciplinary research, academic exchanges, and creative initiatives centred on important topics like artificial intelligence, data sciences, and energy.

Graduates of this association are anticipated to be capable workers who will advance the economies and social conditions of both India and the United Arab Emirates.

“This partnership ensures that Abu Dhabi students receive a top-notch education while exploiting IIT's esteemed academic reputation. It offers technical and specialised study possibilities for Indian students without requiring them to return to their own country,” says Dr Shoaibi.

The collaboration also makes it possible to collaborate on research projects with prestigious Abu Dhabi-based companies and organisations. "The academic programs at IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi are designed to fulfil the demands of the UAE's priority industries, which increases the likelihood that graduates will find work there,” he adds.

International Expansion

The formal visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE strengthened already strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Abu Dhabi campus presents a challenge and an opportunity for IIT Delhi Director Professor Rangan Banerjee to make a global influence via research and education.

IIT Madras has signed an MoU to establish a campus in Zanzibar, Tanzania, which would start operations in October 2023. IIT Delhi's plan to open a school abroad follows IIT Madras'.

This growth reflects the famed IIT system's expanding influence outside of India, which promotes international cooperation and educational possibilities.
