Remarks

JUDE gives an experience worth of a lifetime. It's the best college to be in. The infrastructure needs to be improved but the faculty and curriculum is top notch. Plus multiple optional courses, classes are available here itself.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is the best in the country. It's dynamic and includes all forms of literature including music, movies, theatre focusing on authors and writings that the dominant English canon often leaves behind. The exam structure is a normal 20 mark in internals and 30 mark in endsem. For the internal assessment there may be tests or term paper submissions.

Placement Experience

2.5

The placement and job opportunities are not upto the mark.Placements are organised by the student body and although many renowned companies do come JUDE has mainly had its focus on research oriented scholarships so we see most students don't look for jobs and even if they do they find it outside the university.

College Events

5

Other than the many conferences and paper presentations that happen all year round, we have multiple clubs in the university that organises fests like dance fests, photo fests, music workshops and debate competitions. Other than that we have a month long extravaganza called "Sanskriti" that each department in the university celebrates for one week individually leading to a month long festive event with guest performances, inter college competitions etc. We also have sports club, NSS and NCC.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is a centrally funded University and the fee structure is most affordable. A 3 year course in total will cost you 3.5k which is unbelievable. 1250 is the admission time charges and fee is paid yearly. 1250 for first year and 950 for the two subsequent years with 64 rs per semester as examination fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are multiple scholarships and awards the college offers. The fee being absolutely nominal, no loan facility is there as per my knowledge. Detailed information regarding the scholarships is present in the college website.

Campus Life

4

Lab facilities are top notch with many clubs operating in the college like Photography club, dance society , debate club, mountaineering club. They organise workshops, events and seminars too. The students go for state level and national level events and intercollege competitions.

Hostel Facilities

5

There are girls and boys hostel both with very cheap rates less than 5000 a month. Being very affordable the infrastructure is not too luxurious. The girls hostel is better equipped than the boys one but it is good enough to stay at.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is very strong and is very helpful for the students. They are supported by alumni societies and fb pages and through the college union that keeps a track of them. They help in placements and other things.

Admission

An entrance exam was conducted and the merit list was based completely on the marks scored in the admission test. Students scoring above a certain benchmark in the 12th boards were only eligible for the entrance. That benchmark changes every year and is usually around 75%

Faculty

5

The faculty is wonderful. Methods of teaching are best with frequent use of audio visual medium. The professors are very friendly, approachable, helpful and have immense knowledge in their field. Attending classes here has been a delight and having been in other eminent colleges in the city, I can safely say no one does it better. The learning experience is not classroom bound but real life adjusted.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My passion and a bit of curiosity in International Relations led me to choose this course. The curriculum, in fact, prepared me well for further academic pursuits. For improvement, educational excursions and internship opportunities should be made available. The exam is held twice a year on semester basis, with papers set at a moderate to difficult level.

There are limited on campus placement opportunities here, especially for Arts and Eng Hons students. Most students focus on higher studies, competitive exams or off campus opportunities after graduation. The college provides basic guidance through teachers but formal placement drives are rare.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum provides a comprehensive retrospective of literature from the Old English period to Modern period, while also including English works by Indian authors to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of English literature over the years. The current curriculum I believe requires more seminars and lectures from guest faculties on contemporary research and topics.

I love to read English and it's easy for me so that's why I choose it. There are a total of 50 students in this course. Our teachers are very helpful and talented and also support us. We have 2 semesters after 6 months in 1 year. Exams are comfortable for the students who study the subject. It is difficult for those who do not study.
