Remarks
The University has always been ahead and different than most others in the sense that it has always stood by its principles and has reached this position today. The University has always been a representation of how an academic community should be. From time to time for political reasons the University has been targeted in many ways but the students through their collective will and determination have stood against any societal ill. The freedom of voicing one's opinions at this University is one of the factors that makes Jadavpur University a truly strong and special institution of learning.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Course curriculum is standard in comparison to the other top institutions in India and accredited by NAAC. It is well equipped to train students for competitive exams like GATE, and also enables students to indulge in several projects during the course helping students do more of research and industry oriented work.
Placement Experience
Considering the previous records and this year too the placement scenario at JU has been pretty good for the students. Majority of the students get placed in their final years with some students getting multiple job offers. Top MNCs also come to recruit students every year. The University invites companies for internship recruitment also with many students getting internship offers by the end of 3rd years.
College Events
The annual cultural fest SANSKRITI is conducted every year in March. apart from that there is the annual tech fest SRIJAN which sees participants from other colleges also. These aside there are othe fests such as JUPF, INDAK, MONTAGE, etc. organised by the various student clubs and societies in the University.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Cheapest possible fee structure costing just 10000 rupees for the four year engineering course. The fees is just 2500 rupees for each year. Being a State funded University it keeps the quality of education at the front rather than money.
Fees and Financial Aid
Foundation for Excellence is a scholarship programme for underprivileged students which gives an annual scholarship for the students to help them with their costs while studying at Jadavpur University. There are many other merit based scholarship programmes offered every year for deserving students.
Campus Life
There are many Student run clubs and societies like the Jadavpur University Photographic Club, the Mountaineering and Hiking club which have long histories. Apart from these there are clubs for debating, drama, painting, etc. for extracurriculars. Well equipped sports facilities, and GYM are available.
Alumni/Alumna
Very strong alumni network with an Alumni Association set to complete 100 years next year. There are many notable alumni in the various spheres both in academics as well as other spheres. Many of the alumni have gone on to become leaders and experts in their fields and still continue to give back to the University.
Admission
First students need to take the WBJEE Entrance Exam and then get admitted through the counseling process based on the Rank in WBJEE. WBJEE is a MCQ type test on the subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Faculty
Well Qualified faculty with most of the professors having Ph.D as well as standard industry experience. Most of the teachers are well versed in teaching students and experienced in operating engineering equipments. The supporting staff and technicians are also trained individuals in their respective fields.
