Remarks

Management takes prompt actions. Discipline is taken care of nicely. Security and examinations are up to the mark. Cleanliness around the campus is taken care with utmost importance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is fully flexible. We can choose our subjects, teachers and slots. Basically develop a time table of our choice. VIT is known for it's research excellence and the professors always promote a research oriented learning environment. The subjects are super relevent, be it to the industry or even if someone wishes to pursue higher studies. They are in line with the recent advancements. For example, we were taught about 3D printing and carbon fibres for manufacturing purposes. Number of industrial visits take place round the year and yes these are very helpful in placements.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are graded branch wise and also depending on which branch has the maximum requirement in the market. Computer science and IT placements are great, good companies visit the campus like Microsoft, Amazon, Paypal and Cisco etc. The payouts are amazing. The core branches like electronics and electrical struggle a bit for getting into core domains but they're allowed for maximum IT companies. Civil, Mechanical and chemical engineers try their best for a core company. But there are good alternatives in the management and business development fields as well. Mass recruitments by Cognizant, Infosys etc also take a number of students from VIT. I believe almost 70-75% who sit for placements get placed.

College Events

4.5

The tech and cultural fests are great. Number of events take place and comedians and celebrities visit campus too. The proshows are phenomenal and the tech events and workshops super geeky. The tech fest known as GraVITas takes place around September which is wholly engineering orientated. The cultural fest in February is Riviera which has all fun events and concerts. The campus has a whole different vibe during that time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee breakdown is also on merit basis. The higher your category (lower the rank) the higher is the fee. As I got in category 1, I paid the lowest tuition fee which is around 1,80,000 INR a year. The hostel and mess is seperate depending on the type of bedding arrangements you chose and also the type of mess. It is a bit expensive to be honest, but as VIT now has the 'institute of eminence' tag from the central government, I think it is worth the money.

Fees and Financial Aid

I opted for education loan thourough the State bank of India. Scholarship is also available on VITEEE rank basis. VIT also rewards the top performers with cash rewards. There's scholarship also based on the financial status of students. I availed my loan by providing my proof of admission in VIT and my basic documents in my home town branch.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio is again branch wise. As it is a known fact that there are not many girls in mechanical but yes the rest branches have a fair 35-65 ratio of girls to boys. National and international competitions take place all round the year, within and outside VIT. Student teams and chapters take part in them. I have personally taken parts in a lot of fests and the experience there has been great. There is a chapter in VIT for every possible interest that you may have.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, Hostels are clean and nice. AC and Non-AC preferences are available to students. Bedding ranges from 1 bedded room to 8 bedded ones. People can choose their roomates and hostel block depending on their rank which is calculated branch wise and CGPA wise. Water and Power supply is always there, and food joints are available in the hostel premises.

Alumni/Alumna

VIT Alumni Association is very active. They are based in India and abroad both. Seniors are very helpful and friendly. Most my friends were seniors of my college. Regular events and meetings take place of the VITAA.

Admission

I gave the VITEEE examination in April 2016, secured a decent rank and got myself enrolled in the Mechanical domain as I always wanted to be around machines. The counselling was pretty simple, my parents sat thourough it and the branch distribution was solely on merit basis. You need to submit the basic documents, pay up the fee and you're in.

Faculty

4

The faculties are well qualified. Some are a bit strict, some extremely chill. But the point is the learning environment is good. Lab facilities are used to their maximum potential so as to develop a practical approach towards things going around us. Industry experts too take lectures sometimes, which gives us an insight into the tech world.

Placement Experience:

From the very entry into your third year, you will be eligible to most of the placements. The training provided is very exquisite and some of the trainings start as early as 1st year. 2026 highest package was 55LPA. Many companies like from product companies like Microsoft, Capgemini to service based companies like TCS, INFOSYS etc.. visit our campus for regular placements. About 98% of people placed as far as I have heard.

It provides a good foundation for technical knowledge, but including more industry-oriented projects, hands-on training, and updated technologies would make it even better for future career opportunities.
