Remarks

None. It is just as well a politically active college with numerous political ideologies and thereby people with their own ideologies, and as well as Jadavpur is known to be a university in upheaval, it is as stable as any other highly regarded government institution that doesn't discriminate between students and provide adequate amenities for the most underprivileged to the proper privileged in the same way.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Our course is research-driven, relevant to the current socio-economic, socio-political, and socio-cultural structure of the society - and a comprehensive study of it before the present society and the now, which in turn helps us to understand and stay in touch with the literary influence of today's generation, into the next, which becomes helpful in securing for on-campus placements.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement opportunities provided through and by the university are a rich heritage of students who made it into Google offices. To say the least, Jadavpur University is chosen by most students not just for the faculty, but the opportunities for placements.

College Events

2.5

Sanskriti, Indak, AFSU / FETSU freshers, the participation of which come from across the city, even across the state, and the whole country itself. Sanskriti is one of the biggest five-day events we have which include food stalls, art stalls, performances by people abroad and near.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Online or cash, the fee structure has always been the most minimal, with a regular student's fee being around 500 yearly with an additional ID card, minimal admission charges, registration certificate charges, and the occasional back paper / supplementary exam charges.

Fees and Financial Aid

The university offers scholarships, which I haven't had the opportunity to receive, but coming from scholarship students, the eligibility criteria is on the uni website.

Campus Life

3

The gender ratio is at a proper rate, and bigger gender diversity is observed at our campus simply for the kind of atmosphere that the university upholds. We've rooms for extracurricular activities, proper lab works, fields for different sports, defensive arts, art and science competitions, proper seminars that conclude with debates.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I haven't opted for a hostel since hostel facilities are allowed for those who stay out of state, abroad, have financial drawbacks and scholarship settlements already in place, because Jadavpur University has its own Men's and Women's hostel that houses a lot of people who are underprivileged and/or having scholarships.

Alumni/Alumna

They've been very helpful at the time of admission process and selection criteria, and even while studying and prepping for the entrance exam.

Admission

Along with the merit score from 10+ scores, an entrance examination was held in which selected candidates are from the top 70 students among 1200+ examinees. The admission process starts from the month of June-July and selection process completion is done by August-September.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of my university is a rich variety of multiple professionals having a knowledgeable grasp of whatever their individual subjects are. We've also had instances of professors who do not fit the ideal criteria of a proper teacher-student relationship and therefore has been dealt with in its own way, but the faculty itself is as a whole, a well-rounded assortment of professors who can teach simply by rote memory and proper understanding that helps clear any situational doubts created inside and outside class situations.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My passion and a bit of curiosity in International Relations led me to choose this course. The curriculum, in fact, prepared me well for further academic pursuits. For improvement, educational excursions and internship opportunities should be made available. The exam is held twice a year on semester basis, with papers set at a moderate to difficult level.

There are limited on campus placement opportunities here, especially for Arts and Eng Hons students. Most students focus on higher studies, competitive exams or off campus opportunities after graduation. The college provides basic guidance through teachers but formal placement drives are rare.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum provides a comprehensive retrospective of literature from the Old English period to Modern period, while also including English works by Indian authors to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of English literature over the years. The current curriculum I believe requires more seminars and lectures from guest faculties on contemporary research and topics.

I love to read English and it's easy for me so that's why I choose it. There are a total of 50 students in this course. Our teachers are very helpful and talented and also support us. We have 2 semesters after 6 months in 1 year. Exams are comfortable for the students who study the subject. It is difficult for those who do not study.
