Remarks

The college is a cesspool of political drama and a tyrannical principal. Please avoid at all costs.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course is absolute garbage, as noone will ever require the skills in real life. They teach English literature mainly old English which makes no sense in the modern day. Additionally the teachers are not interested in teaching to say the least, not to mention the rest of the faculty will only converse in Bengali and not pay attention to anyone speaking in English. The only career you can take with this is to become a teacher or a professor.

Placement Experience

0.5

There is no placement in the college, you have to fend for yourself once you leave the college. We could only dream of the college holding a career day where the students can interact with different offices. However nothing was held.

College Events

1.5

The events include a fest which happens annually, just a way for couples to dance with each other on the road which is closed down. They also have Christmas programs and a morning assembly which is hardly attended. These events are attended to very meticulously by the students with a small budget. Most students like to participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

2500 per year for special admission and 4500 per year for general students. The only mode of payment accepted is cash. No extra fees are accepted for the course, purely based on merit. The college is very transparent in fee breakdowns. There is also a fee for examinations.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not apply for any scholarship or any education loan. If I had, I would not have joined this college ever.

Campus Life

1

Gender ratios is 5:1 in favour of the girls. In our class there was approximately 50 girls and 10 guys. The labs are not well maintained and there are no extracurricular activities. The boys common room is the best place to hangout if you don't not mind the extra smoke. They have a table tennis board which is used for table tennis and occasional card games. The girls common room have a table tennis board which is used for placing make up. There is only sports competitions which people hardly participate and there are no spectators, this boosts morale as whoever attends gets a medal.

Alumni/Alumna

Very few seniors are genuinely helpful, most have a tendency to strike fear into the juniors, not in terms of ragging but in mentioning how hard the subjects are. The alumni is non functional.

Admission

Scottish Church College is a well known name in terms of English Honours. The process is simple, as a Christian College, they offer quota admission and it's based on 12th pass marks. They select candidates then after a small test which is given on the day of joining. Immediately they collect payment.

Faculty

2

There are approximately 5 lecturers for English specifically. Each for prose, poetry, history of English language and history of English literature, as well as philology. Of these, 2 teachers would much rather gossip about particular students instead of teaching them. They are all however qualified professionals. Additionally there are two optional subjects taken which the teachers never showed up.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My passion and a bit of curiosity in International Relations led me to choose this course. The curriculum, in fact, prepared me well for further academic pursuits. For improvement, educational excursions and internship opportunities should be made available. The exam is held twice a year on semester basis, with papers set at a moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

There are limited on campus placement opportunities here, especially for Arts and Eng Hons students. Most students focus on higher studies, competitive exams or off campus opportunities after graduation. The college provides basic guidance through teachers but formal placement drives are rare.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum provides a comprehensive retrospective of literature from the Old English period to Modern period, while also including English works by Indian authors to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of English literature over the years. The current curriculum I believe requires more seminars and lectures from guest faculties on contemporary research and topics.

I really liked geography as a subject for learning and exploring as it includes fieldwork , surveys and excursion which enhances our mind and experience in our life and this way we have many opportunities to learn new things in our life which is helpful for our future purposes. The only improvements I would like to note that to improve the toilet facilities and placement opportunities.

If I had to rate the course curriculum then it would be 9 as this course is really good one. The college provides proper teaching facilities with the best teachers and with the help of them it feels so easy and fun to learn. There are no improvement required for this field if they will keep on doing the same thing it will really be good

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love to read English and it's easy for me so that's why I choose it. There are a total of 50 students in this course. Our teachers are very helpful and talented and also support us. We have 2 semesters after 6 months in 1 year. Exams are comfortable for the students who study the subject. It is difficult for those who do not study.
