Remarks

Jadavpur University made me understand what a human should be entitled to. Freedom of thought, freedom of speech and right to life. Also, apart from chemical Engineering or the course you are enrolled in, you grow matured and emerge a better human being.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course Curriculum, when we graduated, was a bit backdated. However, the same has been revised the next year and the same has been upgraded. We did not have MATLAB or AUTOCAD and had to learn and do design and drawing all manual. This seemed odd. Exams are oldschool, with little or no involvement of digitalization.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements are pretty good. All major companies like Adobe, Microsoft, Goldman Sacchs etc visit the campus. For Chemical engineering, companies like Deloitte, Honeywell UOP, Reliance, Bechtel, Vedanta etc allow students to sit for their placements. I got selected into ZS Associates through campus placement. Internships also happen. Sessions on Group Discussion, etc are also conducted.

College Events

5

Cultural fest - Sanskriti. Photography Fest - Montage. Tech Fest- Srijan. Freshers- U-turn. Reunion -Chembridge. And there are several department specific fests as well. Sanskriti is the leading fest of the city and it happens separately for three faculties- 7 days for engineering, 3 days each for science and arts.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The cheapest engineering college in Asia I think. The fees were 200 rupees per month when I studied. Add to it, were exam fees, which were somewhere around 150 rupees annually. The college basically runs on various grants from the Government and believes in education for all.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not opted for any scholarships or education low as you see, the fees are extremely low. However, for economically less privileged students, several scholarships are there for grabs to pay for the already minuscule college fees

Campus Life

3.5

Engineering has a skewed gender ratio towards more male, while it is not so In science and arts faculties. The campus life is excellent. It teaches you life. All students are aware of politics. There are all types of societies for extracurricular like photography, mountaineering, debating, robotics etc.

Hostel Facilities

3

No. I have not opted for hostel and was a day scholar. The hostels were okay as I visited only once or twice to meet friends staying in there and to group study. The rental for hostels are also very low.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is extremely strong. Good Placements are a result of the same. Cultural fests are largely funded by the alumni.

Admission

I had written WBJEE, got a rank of 524 and through online counseling, chose Chemical engineering. After online counseling, admission process happened where I had to produce the documents and got myself admitted with the enrolment number. WBJEE was basically a MCQ exam of maths, physics and chemistry of 12th standard.

Faculty

3.5

Almost all the faculties are highly qualified with pHD and post-docs from globally reputed institutes. The teaching,I must say, is good. Of course, how much you can take in, depends on you. Many professors have moved from blackboard to projector teaching.
