Remarks

The college is fantastic in terms of the knowledge mine and exposure it provides. However the administration is a bit weak in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum focuses mainly on conceptual build up rather than rot learning. It covers almost everything specific to the course, that'll be relevant to anyone interested in pursuing a future in the relevant subjects. The best thing is the early nurturing of a research based mindset of the students. The curriculum is flexible enough for students to either pursue research interests, or pursue a course relevant to his/her interests. The standard of a large number of courses are at par with the IITs, while some others are not. Overally, the way things were taught & nurtured have a major role in building my career.

Placement Experience

5

A wide number of companies visited the campus. Starting from Microsoft, Amazon, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Texas Instruments & many more. All of them had more or less the similar procedure. First there was a technical round. Then there's one/two/three interview rounds based on the company & number of candidates selected from the first round. Lastly there's HR interview. Tentatively around 90% of the students get placed. Some of the remaining 10% go for higher studies and some other are ineligible to sit for placements depending on multiple factors. The institution however doesn't take much responsibility to prepare the students.

College Events

5

There are a lot of technical cultural and management fests stretched throughout the year. In the technical side, the most popular fest is Srijan which stretches for 3-4 days. In cultural fests, there are many of them. The engineering section has a seperate cultural fest, the arts section has a seperate one & the science section has another one. Each of them lasts around 7-8 days. Among the management ones, the most popular is the hosting of Hult prize on the campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the college is extremely feasible for every person with merit, desiring to attain quality education. I completed 4 yrs of my education with 9. 6k. That's it. No additional cost. No one can attain admission with kind. It's purely merit based & there's complete transparency in fee-breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, a lot of scholarship opportunities are available. Eligibility criteria mainly depends on the merit & family income of the student. The sum varies from 10k to 50k per year.

Campus Life

3.5

The gender ratio in engineering departments is pretty bad. For eg, my department had a 11:1 ratio of boys to girls. But in science and arts department it is much better. Majority students are from West Bengal. But some of them(including me) are from different Indian states. There are a lot of clubs to encourage extracurricular activities like sports. Students are mainly oriented towards football & cricket. There's an annual sports even which makes it more encouraging. Students from every race and religion gain knowledge under the same roof with close to none discrimination.

Hostel Facilities

4

I've not attained hostel. A lot of PGs are available around the campus & they're pretty cheap. The PG's gave 2 people in one room with 2 single beds. There are seperate PGs for boys and girls. The rent is pretty cheap and on an average 5-6k per month, depending on the location advantage they provide.

Alumni/Alumna

The level of personal interaction with the seniors and professors is very high. There's no ragging in the campus, which makes it easy for the Juniors to approach the seniors for any necessary help. It is the seniors that every junior looks upto, in case they need help. Most of the professors are extremely helpful. They cooperate with the students as and when necessary. They provide more flexibility to the students then the rest of the colleges I've seen.

Admission

I was a science student in class 11-12. And physics was my favorite. As I proceeded, I developed a keen interest towards Electronics at the end of class 12 and I reached this decision. I was granted admission through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination. I chose to continue my education here as it is amongst the top engineering institutes of Kolkata. When I qualified the WBJEE, there was an online counseling in which I gave Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering as my first choice. After I was declared eligible for it, I came to the college on the specified date with specific documents necessary for admission. It was an easy process and hardly takes an hr. After completing the procedure, the classes started after a week or so.

Faculty

4.5

The number of tentative lectures are around 20. Average age of the professors is around 42-45. Most of the professors who taught us had a PhD from a well renowned university. 1/2 of them didn't have a PhD but they were knowledgeable enough in the subjects they taught us. Assistant professors are mostly 28-32 by age. Associate professors are around 37-45 by age & professors are normally 50+ of age. Most of the professors who taught us had a sound understanding of the subjects they taught us. Some of them has relevant industry experience where as most of them were research oriented.
