Women's College Kolkata, B.Sc hons Food and Nutrition

Reviewed on Jun 15, 2020

Course Curriculum Overview

They looked upon all the parts of the subjects. there were very presented in a very good and precised style from the nutrition chart to everything about the nutrition. Food and nutrition both were dealt separately in my syllabus

Placement Experience

3.5

Quite a few companies came in order to recruit us for the jobs with salary starting from 12 thousands. But it was very less in numbers. Although me and many of my college friends were not wanting to join any company for job only with a B.Sc degree

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of bsc was high in compared to all the other course but it was very well justified. As we had many other facilities like different labs work, excursion trips our fees was slight higher with rupees 11396 charged every year.

Campus Life

We played many games inside our campus during our free classes. These games always resulted in providing us some good and healthy time inside our busy schedule. Annual day held in the month of october for whole college student.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels were available according to the demand of the students. We had one college hostel and other than that many private hostels were there who has some links with my college. Charge was different for different hostels according to their facilities

Admission

My college was quite old but full of experience and dedication towards the future of students. For selection they saw my percentage of boards and when my percentage matched with the cutoff of the college, they gave me admission

Faculty

4.5

As my college was established in 1937 there were any teachers who gave their whole life in teaching in this reputated college. I dont have any words to describe them. They were just the perfect teachers anyone can ever get.

Scottish Church College: A Journey Worth Remembering

Likes

Fixed timetable Classes, regular assessment and class test
The professors are very qualified and their teaching style is excellent.
A lot of books are available in the main library as well as in the department library

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus and curriculum of Calcutta University is aligned with other entrance examination (eg.IIT JAM, JEST, TIFR, GATE etc.) Specially for the Physics BSc course. And the syllabus is updated Artificial intelligence bacis, Python Advance level is in syllabus, it's completed in college. Point to be Noted - The time given to prepare for the exam is sometimes ample but sometimes it is very less. So we have to prepare syllabus in time which is little bit frustrating.

Campus life: Hype vs Truth

Likes

The discipline is followed very strictly. Also you have access to library which is good, teachers are helpful and no ragging policy which is strictly followed and has a decent environment.
Thery conduct seminars which encourages students. Many faculty members are knowledgeable experienced in their respective subjects and helpful willing to solve doubts beyond the classroom also.
The college has decent infrastucture including classrooms, labs and library .

Dislikes

While the curriculum is decent ,it lacks sufficeint practical implementation.More hands on projects, real world application and industry exposure would improve learning significantly.
Campus life can sometimes fell limited in terms of active student interaction.Opportunites for clubs, networking and collaborative activities could be improved.
The college comes under St tHomas School so the campus is not great it is compact and has a canteen.

Placement Experience:

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

The College Life in Burdwan

Likes

The campus is big and full of greenery with the vibrant feel of nature.
The students of the same batch are friendly and helpful.
The teacher's are friendly and helpful. They do provide helpful recommendations for the betterment of your future.

Dislikes

The seniors are overly harsh when it comes to 1st year.
The infrastructure could be worked on. The college lacks renovation.
The hostel does require everyday cleaning and renovation as well as the campus.

Placement Experience:

I don't know much about this but I guess from the sixth semester the students are eligible for campus placements. This year a student from AEIE got a package of 11.2 lacs per annum and the average is around 4 lacs per annum.

The Framework is said to be great, with well equipped classroom and simply get to the libraries.
The offices at this college are great. In any case, these changes depending on the quality of the companies going by the college and the victory of the internship changes by the internship.
Understudies appreciate the campus life and flexibility to associate with others understudies. However, there are few impediments such as the division of floors between senior and junior. College life is nice and could be an inviting place for others

Dislikes

The college doesn't have lodging, and understudies must organize their settlement locally.
The college doesn't have a big field to play like any other big college

Placement Experience:

In Syamaprasad College placements and internships are given to the final year students. And the companies that offer placements are Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, etc. The highest package goes up to 20-24 lakhs and the average package goes to 6-8 lakhs. 70-80% of students get their placement in my college. At that time I planned to get the degree and apply to a multinational company with a high salary package with company facilities.
