Remarks

Initially because I had it as backup plan because I could not secure a Delhi University college or the AIPMT, but on closer inspection it offered a great curriculum and holistic college experience which further solidified my interest in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course syllabus was extremely cohesive and well organised. It successfully covered the often neglected basics of the history of English Literature and built on it with every passing semester. Complimented by the constant evaluation through independent research work and the NTCC (non teaching credit course) which allowed a student to write a research paper on any topic of their choice. This caused for the students to be well versed with the MLA format, research work through constant review, and then sit before a viva panel to present their paper. Presentations were a compulsion for every subject, which worked wonders for many students in building their confidence (myself included). The faculty was a great support as well, from interactive classes to thought provoking lectures, the experience of learning was never dull. I specifically remember Dr. Debasree Basu, Dr. Debashree Sinha and Ms. Yajnaseni Mukherjee because they brought texts to life and really pushed students to think for themselves rather than lean on external resources.

Placement Experience

3.5

Did not sit for placement interviews, so cannot offer an objective answer. But a number of my batchmates were placed in various print media, teaching and training positions.

College Events

5

One of the greatest plus points of Amity University, Noida was its emphasis of creating a vibrant college experience, a part of which were the extra curriculars offered by the departments and the college itself. The English department, which was called the Amity Institute of English Studies and Research had a drama club, a dance club and a music club and also encouraged students to create their own clubs. The college fest, Amity Youth Festival was one that ran for 3 days full of competitions with participating colleges across different states. I, being part of and passing out as the president of the Drama Club had a close glimpse into the inner workings of the technicalities of the management systems in the college. For me it was probably the one place where I'd appreciate more support from the college administration itself because it was a chore to book equipment and auditoriums in time without multiple hindrances.

Fees and Financial Aid

Every semester's top score holders have a significant amount of their fee waived off if they secure anywhere between a 8.5 and above CGPA. It can be anywhere between 100% scholarship if they're in the top 5% or 50% if they're in the top 10% of the programme.

Campus Life

5

Amity University, Noida offers a sprawling campus, replete with all sorts of amenities such as multiple canteens, a hostel mess, restaurants(catering to every budget), a salon, departmental stores, a gymnasium, an indoor pool, an arcade, basketball and tennis courts. A special mention to the fact most, if not all department buildings had their own photocopy and printout shops. The campus also has many parks and a large field, which is bustling be it night or day. The library is also a campus favourite, complete with security turnstiles, three floors of content, computers to work on and even personal work spaces. The english section however, left much to be desired. The campus also has its own Wifi connection which was quite a hassle to be signed up to, but worked quite seamlessly once in use.

Placements at our college are gradually improving, though they are still not at the level of top-tier campuses. The average package in our college is 7 lakhs. Students typically become eligibilty for campus works to bring companies and prepare students through training sessions, mock interviews, and aptitude classes.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm from humanities background so the course is quite relevant for me. The course is quite outdated however it's the same for most of the universities. the curriculum should be aligned with the competitive exams and the teaching methods should be more inclusive about the competitive exams so that the student can prepare well not only for the present course but also further upcoming exams.
