Remarks

I chose this college because it is the best in kolkata and also it helps me concentrate on my sports and studies at the same time. St. Xavier's College's basketball team is also a state club team which participates in the state championship every year which helps me more in my sporting career as no other college in Bengal follows the same policy for its basketball team.

Course Curriculum Overview

The syllabus is up to date in accordance with Calcutta University as Xavier's is an autonomous college and follows its own policy of exams and marking but the syllabus is according to CBCS. students are taught in a very interactive manner so they remember whats being taught even if they dont follow notes and everything to the T. the exposure is no much, its based on the course a student takes. and so the visits mainly come towards the third year of college.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 100000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Yes i am currently working as a freelance content writing intern at Collegedunia.com. The stipend amount is based on the number of approved articles and the word count of the article. The process was simple and easy as i applied for the internship and needed to complete an assignment given by the company.

Placement Experience

There is a huge number of companies who visit the college and interview students based on their degree. Companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Zomato, Uber eats, Oyo, Grofers, HDFC bank, Swiss Re. The companies also encourage students to try for another field of interest incase the students do not totally make it in their chosen job which they applied for. There is a whole Alumni system of the college which contributes immensely for every program. The college also has campaign runs twice a year atleast for students to grab job opportunities and internships.

College Events

Campus life is good as the flagship college fest Xavostsav is one of the most awaited fests by not only the own students but other college students as well. there is also a XPL an intra college sports fest where students compete against each other in different sports.

Campus Life

Infrastructure is pretty good. there is a basketball court, cricket nets for practice 2 football grounds and a t.t room with carrom boards which students can access at anytime. Wifi is available to students who register for it. the library is extremely good as well as their is a facility of a e-library.

Likes

Fixed timetable Classes, regular assessment and class test
The professors are very qualified and their teaching style is excellent.
A lot of books are available in the main library as well as in the department library

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus and curriculum of Calcutta University is aligned with other entrance examination (eg.IIT JAM, JEST, TIFR, GATE etc.) Specially for the Physics BSc course. And the syllabus is updated Artificial intelligence bacis, Python Advance level is in syllabus, it's completed in college. Point to be Noted - The time given to prepare for the exam is sometimes ample but sometimes it is very less. So we have to prepare syllabus in time which is little bit frustrating.

Likes

Supportive Faculty - The professors are highly qualified, approachable and always willing to help students
Free wifi support - There are free wifi support for both student and faculty
Fee Structure - It is very affordable and low compared to other colleges in the region

Dislikes

Placement support is below average, and most studnets have to apply for off campus jobs independently, which is really pathetic in the era of ai where getting a job as a fresher is so difficult
There is no dedicated support or placment cell initiative to help studnets land meaningful summer internships or any kind of internships

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements starting from the 7th semester. For placement drives, we have to visit the main campus, Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL). Since students from other Techno India campuses and branches also participate, the competition is extremely high. In the 2025–2026 academic year, fewer companies visited. Only two companies, Dronahost and WishCare, visited our specific campus directly. The remaining drives—mostly service-based companies like TCS and EY, along with a few startups—were conducted at the main campus. The remaining drives mostly service based companies like TCS, EY etc and quite a few startups has visited to main campus. The package they offered mostly in between 3.5lpa - 6 lpa. Furthermore the selection process of those startups is quite rigorous often consisting of upto 5 rounds of interview, two technical rounds with two technical interviews, and HR round My plans after getting the degree is either pursue an MBA or preparing for govt jobs

Campus life: Hype vs Truth

Likes

The discipline is followed very strictly. Also you have access to library which is good, teachers are helpful and no ragging policy which is strictly followed and has a decent environment.
Thery conduct seminars which encourages students. Many faculty members are knowledgeable experienced in their respective subjects and helpful willing to solve doubts beyond the classroom also.
The college has decent infrastucture including classrooms, labs and library .

Dislikes

While the curriculum is decent ,it lacks sufficeint practical implementation.More hands on projects, real world application and industry exposure would improve learning significantly.
Campus life can sometimes fell limited in terms of active student interaction.Opportunites for clubs, networking and collaborative activities could be improved.
The college comes under St tHomas School so the campus is not great it is compact and has a canteen.

Placement Experience:

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

The campus is big and full of greenery with the vibrant feel of nature.
The students of the same batch are friendly and helpful.
The teacher's are friendly and helpful. They do provide helpful recommendations for the betterment of your future.

Dislikes

The seniors are overly harsh when it comes to 1st year.
The infrastructure could be worked on. The college lacks renovation.
The hostel does require everyday cleaning and renovation as well as the campus.

Placement Experience:

I don't know much about this but I guess from the sixth semester the students are eligible for campus placements. This year a student from AEIE got a package of 11.2 lacs per annum and the average is around 4 lacs per annum.

The Framework is said to be great, with well equipped classroom and simply get to the libraries.
The offices at this college are great. In any case, these changes depending on the quality of the companies going by the college and the victory of the internship changes by the internship.
Understudies appreciate the campus life and flexibility to associate with others understudies. However, there are few impediments such as the division of floors between senior and junior. College life is nice and could be an inviting place for others

Dislikes

The college doesn't have lodging, and understudies must organize their settlement locally.
The college doesn't have a big field to play like any other big college

Placement Experience:

In Syamaprasad College placements and internships are given to the final year students. And the companies that offer placements are Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, etc. The highest package goes up to 20-24 lakhs and the average package goes to 6-8 lakhs. 70-80% of students get their placement in my college. At that time I planned to get the degree and apply to a multinational company with a high salary package with company facilities.

St. Xavier's College Kolkata Review

I chose this college over other colleges due to its high reputation, especially regarding the B.Com course. The college also has a very prestigious range of alumni and good placement opportunities. It consistently ranks among the top colleges in our country, most recently gaining the 6th position on the NIRF scale. The college also has a well-reputed faculty and a record of good teaching. The college admission process was fairly simple. It was an online process - and included filling up a detailed admission form along with online submission of necessary documents. After that came the payment of the application fee. The selection lists containing the names of selected students came out a few weeks later, with a link for the payment of the admission fee for the first semester. Following that was the physical verification of documents, on completion of which the admission process was formally complete....Read More

St Xavier's College is the best

I would like to start with these college facilities: Faculties are well experienced and with good knowledge and have proper communication way. The infrastructure is of this college is the best I . Classrooms are equipped with AC in summer and are huge to prevent suffocating. Admission is a very easy process here with less paperwork, have to simply apply online or fill forms and each form costs 1000 (at my time). Have to carry results and certificates of other exams and the minimum marks are required to get selected. And thereafter give a written test on the campus and thereafter give an interview over there. If you will be qualified they may get in touch with you through mobile and email also. The forms are out in the month of June and the dates are fluctuating. Before taking admission I have done a lot of research through friends and have also seen its review on the website Collegedunia. These college facilities are good and the education provided is best. The admission fees are quite heavier....Read More
