Remarks
Pros- Direct Admission to everyone with more than 80% in 12th standard. For the rest, AIEEE exam is held. Scholarship for getting above 90% in 12th. A big comfortable campus and classes, with laboratories for all subjects. Some faculties are good at making us understand every aspect of the syllabus. Placement is provided to almost everyone, but most of them are in IT sector or sales and marketing sector. Infrastructure is awesome. Cons- Syllabus include atleast 13 subjects in first and second semester. Most of these subjects have no relation to the course for example, social science, psychology, etc. Sports facilities are provided but need maintenance. Faculties are given to teach subjects they have no relation with. You can find more details on sites like Collegedunia, Siksha, etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
Biotechnology a booming industry has intrigued me since 11th class. It includes both biology and maths as basic subjects. Most of the faculties have done doctorate, phd. And Amity has the most patents done in an year. There are 150 faculties for approximately 2000 students in Biotechnology branch. Some of them are good at teaching while others even after so many years struggle with the same. For minors or internal exams, the dates are fixed after asking from the students. Majors or external exams are held every December and April months. To clear the exam, mostly we just have to fill enough pages that the examiner gets satisfied with it or give precise but accurate answers. Difficulty level is easy to medium.
Internships Opportunities
College doesn't provide any internship of sorts. Some faculties may guide us to paid internships near noida. As such there are no collaboration of any internship institute with the Amity University. I interned at JNU, Biosafety Lab-3 through the regular process of mailing the director, going through an interview, etc. They had a great laboratory with helping PhD students and researchers. I loved my experience there.
Placement Experience
From 6 semester onwards Students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Wipro, Accenture, TCS, and others take up students in bulk. Most of these provide a package ranging from 2. 8 lacs to 5 lacs for Bachelor students while for Masters student it ranges from 4-8 lacs. Most of these are IT or Sales sector companies. According to the University the placement percentage is 100%, which is not true. Many of my friends were not placed through campus placement. They found jobs in off-campus interviews. I gave the GATE exam after my Bachelor's degree to apply for Masters. And I am currently in GGSIPU, pursuing MTech in Biotechnology with a GATE scholarship.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Most of the course account for about 1 lakh every semester. Students entering with above 90% marks in 12th get 50% scholarship from the first semester fees. Moreover those with more than 93% marks get 100% scholarship. Getting in top 5% of the class also accounts for some deduction on fees for the next semester. Education loans are easily granted by any bank residing near your location. National and International level players are provided with 25% and 50% scholarship respectively. Placement cells of every department is very active and most of the students get placed either in IT or Sales and management sectors. Core companies for biotechnology comes with sales jobs.
Campus Life
Amity Youth Fest is one of the most awaited fest in almost every college. Its a grand ceremony with big celebrities coming to promote their movies or music etc. Small events happen regularly in every department with a frequency of atleast 2 events per month. These include trivia and other challenges along with prizes for 1st place. Library has its separate building with 2 floors in it. Management of library is quite good. Every classroom has a projector for smart classes along with desks and seats that are quite comfortable. The sports field is big enough with badminton, volleyball, basketball, cricket nets and squash courts on its boundaries. Sports room has almost all the equipments required for each sports. Badminton court is outdoor and thus is not suited in windy seasons. "Sangathan" the sports meet is held every October for all kinds of sports. Biotechnology is the gold medal winner in chess, handball and tug of war for the past two years. Various clubs and committees are present in each department as well as central clubs and committees. These handle the events every months and are the driving force for extracurricular activities in the University.
