Remarks

I am presently attending Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (M) of Delhi University and am in the third year of education. I got in the college in the third cut off. I read a lot of reviews online of the college most of which were positive. The cutoff for the third list was 94.5 percent for English honours. The admission took place in just one day. I just had to go to the college with all my documents like my marksheet, transfer certificate, characters certificate etc. One of the documents that was required by the college was missing from my side for which they gave a 14-day relaxation for me to go back to my hometown and arrange for that document. Overall, the admission process was not only smooth but also flexible and so has been my college life

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose English honours as my course because I had a lot of interest in the field of reading, creating content, and writing. I was a literature enthusiastic and this course was the best. Shahid Bhagat Singh was also a highly acclaimed for its Arts courses, so I did not have to give it a lot of second thought. The faculty of the college is not just very varied but is also very approachable and friendly. Most of the teachers from my departments had either been in the profession for a number of years or had Ph.d in literature and knew their subject well. They provided an adequate amount of notes and took proper classes and could be approached outside of classes as well. The exams took place pretty much on the scheduled times and were not extremely difficult if you are well versed with your course.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college allows students to apply for Internships outside of college as well. However, there are internship opportunities for students within the college as well. A lot of companies visit the college during placement time.

Placement Experience

3

Most students who have completed the third year become eligible for campus placements that to from the commerce department mostly. The percentage of students getting placed lies in the middle. However, there are a decent amount of companies that visit the college during the placement time and give due recognition to the students for their work. Ask for my course and future plans are concerned I wish to do my post-graduation and literature and venture into the field of writing, editing and creating content

Fees and Financial Aid

If anything, my college has the most affordable fee structure. I only had to pay an amount of 7000 for the first year of my studies and then n.a. minimal amount as my examination fees. There are a lot of placement opportunities for students belonging to the commerce department. Why for students belonging to arts courses have a lot of internships and in-house college programs that could benefit them. Companies like Byjus, Dell, etc. come on for placements. A lot of times the nodes are available within the college campus which are at a very minimal price and easy for the students to afford.

Campus Life

4.5

The social and cultural life of my college is something that is very dominant and something that is given due consideration throughout the academic year. We have a lot of societies including the dancing society, the singing society, the writing society, the dramatics club, etc. Vicky organizing pets all around the year for students of normally the college but also a child of college to come in and perform. The campus has a very green ambience with trees all around. Does a little canteen and little cafeteria in the campus as well along with two beautiful gardens for the students to sit and enjoy. The campus life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is something that one can look forward to.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
