Remarks

In the beginning I gave the entrance exam of NEET for admission in MBBS course in any of the government college but didn't get any. Therefore I changed my mind and decided to go for BSc Hons in Agriculture. I applied in ICAR's AIEEA for admission in undergraduate course in Agriculture but I failed to clear that one too. Finally I decided to opt for Amity University, Noida and filled the application form of BSc Hons in Agriculture but that was the biggest mistake of my educational career. The admission procedure in Amity University is quite simple as they give admission to everyone and anyone who could pay their hefty fees. First, one need to fill up the online/offline application form and submit the same. Then students are sent an email regarding their selection and for further admission procedure. The next step is that they conduct a very easy and very basic English assessment test which is followed by a person interview round. All these rounds are just formality and as everyone's letin

Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course name has recently been changed from Bachelor's in Food and Agribusiness to Bachelor's in Agriculture. The course curriculum is same as that of Tamil Nadu University of Agriculture. Every semester new subjects are introduced which are related to the field of agriculture along with additional subjects which include Communication skills, Foreign Business Language and Behaviour Sciences. Almost all the faculty members pass on exactly same notes of Tamil Nadu University of Agriculture except a few who really work hard. Teachers take help of PPTs to make the students learn concepts and half of them just read out the slides to the students. The teaching has been more worse since the start of this pandemic. Practicals are not held regularly and which leads to a lack of practical knowledge of the subject. Exams are taken timely but the results are more based on the impression of the student on the faculty than what they wrote in the exam. Some students do get back exams though.

Internships Opportunities

1

The students themselves have to look for internships and the institute is not at all helpful in getting their students any good internship opportunities. With no option left, the students go for UNPAID internships and that too under start up companies. The rest go for digital marketing internships and fail to get any real exposure of the agricultural sector.

Placement Experience

2.5

Only 8th semester students sit for placements. Many big companies such as Coromandel come for giving the students am opportunity to work in their company but the students are hired on a probationary period of 6 months after which they may or may not get a fixed place in the company. The average package is between 15000-35000. Among the students which voluntarily sit for placements, most are selected but on probationary period. I am not looking for any placement opportunity from the institute and would like to go for higher education. But the fact that AMITY INSTITUTE OF ORGANIC AGRICULTURE is not ICAR accredited, students having a degree of BSc Hons in Agriculture from Amity University are not allowed to sit in the post graduate entrance exam conducted by ICAR which leaves us with almost zero options.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is not at all in accordance to their quality of teaching and the fact that the institute doesn't have an ICAR accreditation makes it all more unjust. The institute is not accredited from ICAR due to which the students can't sit in the ICAR's AIEEA for post graduate program. The fee structure includes lab fees and the students get to visit the lab only once or twice in their whole college life of 4 years. The scholarship programme is for namesake only and hardly any student manages to get scholarship from the University.

Campus Life

3

This is the only good part about Amity University. Besides education, which is the main motive of all the students, they provide all the other facilities to the students. Fests take place every year in which big bollywood stars are invited and the campus becomes more of a concert and less of a educational institution. There are many clubs in every department related to dance, literature, general knowledge etc which are primarily run by students and are led by a faculty member. The clubs arrange events on every Thursday which are a total waste of time and money.

Interview Experience

2

The admission procedure included some basic test which were for namesake only. The wasn't any group discussion round. Only a personal interview too place but they hardly rejected any student based on their interview. Again the written interview was also for namesake as it contained very basic questions which a pre primary student could also solve. Hence there is no need to prepare for the admission procedure.
