I choose IIM over other private colleges because of the quality of teaching and lifestyle as well as the corporate world look up to it. And while comparing IIM Sambalpur, Bodh Gaya, Jammu and Sirmaur, few parameters such as placements, fees, faculty etc were all the same i.e. baby IIMs. I went for IIM Sirmaur because comparatively it has better infrastructure and facilities as well as peaceful scenic view location - I mean the Himalayas obviously. I connected with the seniors and alumni of the college on social media to get more info. Seniors, especially media cell members, helped me a lot in the admission process and onboarding.

As I was confused about which specialization I should go for, I decided to go for general MBA so that I can decide at the end of the 1st year. Faculty to student ratio is 1:60. Among internal some are good some are average. But majority of the subjects are taught by external faculty that too from elite group of B-schools of India such as IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Indore, Kozhikode, MDI Gurgaon, IIT Bombay SJMSOM etc. Among external faculty some are good and some are great. Trimester pattern is followed at IIM Sirmaur with mid-term and end-term for every term i.e. three months. Difficulty level of exams is from moderate to high, depending upon the candidate and his/her interest. So it is highly recommended to gain most of the marks in class presentations, assignment as well as class participation.

Internship process starts from September. Before that seniors help you in building and improving your CV. Companies come for variety of roles. 100% of the students are placed for internship. However you can opt out from the internship placement process and can directly sit for the final placement process. Final placement process starts from August. Companies come for various roles from different industry but mainly for marketing domain. Almost 100% students are placed. Latest details of the placement is available on the website. For entrepreneurs, if you are planning to go with your own start-up you can opt-out from the final placement process and can sit for the placement process after two years.

There are few category and merit based scholarship opportunities available which are updated every year according to the guidelines of MHRD. Fees include everything except mess which is arround Rs.6000/month. Institute provides financial aid if you represent it in any competition.

At the foothills of the Himalayas, the life at IIM Sirmaur is blissful. Yes it is packed with buzy schedules and last minute notice but the tiredness goes away the moment you take a sip of tea or coffee in the soothing air of the evening. And then starts life at IIM Sirmaur 2.0, where either you will be buzy with assignments, ppts, club/committee work, placement prep or playing some sports on the ground or indoor sports room. You can visit the city market whenever (or should I say "if") you get time for which the college provides shuttle bus service. Canteen somtimes run till 1 am and somtimes till 3 am. There is a Bloomberg terminal in library. Student bodies (Committees and Clubs) is the best part of the institute where you actually get to learn and apply "business management" and it gives you a massive help in your placements. There is always some intra/inter-college competition going on. Sierra is the national level annual Management, Sports, and Cultural festival of the college where participants come from all over the country.

Twin/triple sharing hostel which is inside the campus. Room cleaning is done everyday. couple of washing machines on every floor. Basic furniture available in every room. Mess food is average depends on your taste.
