Likes
- The peaceful environment, the location of the temporary campus is good to be a part of. The place, Poanra Sahib is situated close to Dehradun and Chandigarh, therefore reaching the place is easy. The hostels have all the basic amenities.
Dislikes
- Since the IIM is currently operating from a temporary campus, it has its own challenges and tough life. It is difficult to travel to classes from hostels present outside the campus and be a part of all the social gatherings.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is pretty dense and makes you work really hard. But that is true for most Top B-Schools. The faculty is highly qualified. Our Director was the first-ever Director of IIM Trichy and one of the best faculty in marketing. Our Finance faculty, Mr. Sanjay Pareek is a former CFO of Siemens, who brings in a lot of insights into the sessions. We also have visiting faculties from IIM Indore, SPJIMR, IIMA, IIMB, etc.
Internships Opportunities
For an internship, the process begins about 2 months after joining the program. Again, due to operations from a temporary campus, the internship process takes place on a rolling basis. However, the roles offered are almost from every domain and function. The companies include ICICI, HDFC, Accenture, DCM Shriram, Adani, Latentview, etc.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for final placements from the beginning of the 2nd year itself. The college has a 100% placement record. There are a lot of good companies visiting the campus, such as Accenture, Adani, ICICI, HDFC, and DCM Shriram, among others. The average package is around 14 Lacs, with the highest domestic package being 26L, and the highest international package is 64L.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fee of the course is around 14 lakh for the batch of 2022-2024. The fees have been increased to 16L for the upcoming batches for both the core MBA and MBA THM. This excludes the mess fee, which goes somewhere between 18000/- per term. The breakup of the course fee will be provided alongside the admission kit. There are scholarships available for different categories and regions. Scholarship opportunities are regularly floated for the students during the year.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is pretty good, though it does suffer from the limitations of a temporary campus. The annual fest is Sierra, which is conducted in February or March every year. There are more than 15 clubs and committees. One will not feel the scarcity of being a part of any club or committee. We have clubs such as consulting club, HR club, Marketing club, literature club, etc. The culture is also friendly, and the admin is strict yet helpful. The classrooms are state-of-the-art and comfortable. The campus has decent sports infrastructure, with facilities for cricket, football, badminton, and basketball, gym available.
Hostel Facilities
Currently, the IIM operates from a temporary campus. Therefore the boys' hostel is not inside the campus as of now. However, keeping that in mind the IIM provides all the basic amenities. The boys' hostel where I stay is pretty good, with spacious rooms, and the hostel has its own dedicated gym as well. The food quality is okay, and the menu has all types of food. It is designed keeping in mind the diverse backgrounds of the people. There are special dishes prepared for various festivals and the food is pretty decent.
Admission
The admission is through CAT. The CAT exam takes place in November. The course is open to all the students who have completed their graduation or are in the final year of their graduation. The application form is usually released in August. The fee for CAT is around 1800. There was a final interview after you get calls on the basis of percentile. IIM Sirmaur comes under the CAP process.
