Highlights of IIM Sirmaur

MBA is important to understand the fundamentals of business and a core MBA helps to get a good knowledge about various aspects of business. IIM Sirmaur is a very well-reputed institute. It is best at imparting knowledge with good placements along with a summer internship.

IIM Sirmaur brings in various placements opportunities from many companies such as HDFC, ICICI, Accenture, K12 etc. Companies usually bring in a diverse variety of roles like sales, digital marketing, portfolio management, general management, operations, finance roles etc. The projects are usually high-quality projects and are very helpful for learning.

Campus placements are good. For a full-time summer internship which is mandatory for first-year studenst to enter the second year of course, the process starts in the month of July or August and last until late March. The average stipend for SIP is around Rs.40,000-45,000. The students who perform well in internships get Pre Placement offers from the companies they worked at, they do not need to apply for new companies when final placements start. Students who do not get PPO can sit for final placements which also start in term 4 of the course.

The fees increase every new academic year for the new admissions and stay constant until the course ends for that batch of students. All the fees can be easily recovered by the summer internship and the final placements provided by the institute. Central Government provides scholarship to people belonging to reserved category and 30% of seats in most of the schemes are reserved for female students, The scholarship amount depends on the scheme opted for but most of the scheme provides entire tuition and hostel fees with almost all the miscellaneous fees and laptop cost upto Rs 45,000 for the students who provide relevant proof for the same. Even the scholarships available for reserved categories are provided on the basis of marks/percentile obtained in the CAT examination for 1st-year students.

Life at the campus is fun and hectic depending on the activities you are engaged in. There are many Clubs, Cells and Committees in which students can compete to be a part and learn a lot of things. Annual fest Sierra is a prime attraction for students and TEDxIIMSirmaur is the official TEDx event organised by the consent student body.

Hostel rooms have basic amenities like beds, cupboards, cushions, hangers, and proper charging points along with chairs and study tables provided individually to each student. There will be a common washing machine, washrooms and bathrooms will be available but there is another hostel which has an attached washroom and bathroom with the rooms, Stands to dry clothes will be provided common between 2-3 rooms and each room will be shared by 2-3 people, Rooms have the good light facility and ceiling fan is also provided. Mess facility is provided within the campus as well as to hostels outside the campus with a dynamic and healthy menu. 4 meals are provided breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Cornflax, bread, butter and hot beverages are mostly standard with one seasonal fruit in breakfast along with other breakfast options like poha, dosa, vada etc. A well-balanced diet is provided to the students helping them to maintain good health

Candidates who have appeared for the CAT examination and have completed at least one degree are eligible to apply. The application form can be found on the official CAT exam website and the application fees will depend on the category but for the general category, it is somewhere around Rs.1500. The candidates who have reservations will have application fees of around Rs.800-900.

CAT was the entrance exam for getting admission the questions are very knowlegede and GK based with some mental ability to solve. A personal interview was also taken for the shortlisted candidates. The questions where easy to moderate level.
